"I haven't seen you since, what? Star Magic Games?" Enrique guessed and Kath laughed, nodding her head.
"It had to have been... Gosh, I was like, fifteen then." She groaned, making him chuckle.
"And now look at you - a superstar with a very adorable baby," Enrique said with a grin and Kath couldn't help but smile with him - his grin was contagious.
"She knows she has Mommy wrapped around her little finger," Kath mumbled, making Enrique laugh.
"I can imagine. I can't believe I ran into you, it's crazy. I haven't seen anyone from back in the day for years." Enrique said and Kath shook her head.
"Me neither - everybody kinda dropped me when I went into rehab," Kath admitted and Enrique sighed.
"If we were tight back then, I would have visited you." He said and Kath let out a laugh.
"My eighteen-year-old self thanks you." She said playfully and Enrique chuckled. He opened the door to the coffee place, helping Kath to lift the stroller up the step and into the building without disturbing the tiny baby on the inside who was just starting to drift off to sleep, but the sudden change of loudness made her open her eyes wide and whine. "Oh, I know, baby girl..." Kath cooed, trying to settle her and she looked around. "Can we sit outside there?" Kath asked, pointing to the open door that led into the garden of the coffee place that was set up with a few tables and even some play equipment but it was still too early for people to be using it.
"She okay?" Enrique asked, his eyebrows creased in concern and Kath nodded her head.
"Yeah, she's just a little sensitive and it's loud in here for her with the barista machine and the blenders," Kath said, sounding apologetic but Enrique laid a hand on her arm reassuringly.
"Kath, it's fine. She's literally the smallest thing I've ever seen in my life, we'll take her outside - the fresh air will be good for her!" Enrique smiled, leading the way outside and to a table that was covered by a parasol so that the sun wouldn't be directly on the infant. "What do you want to drink? My treat." He offered and Kath hesitated.
"Are you sure?"
"Just tell me what you want." He said and Kath smiled.
"I'm breastfeeding, so just a regular hot chocolate is fine."
"You can have a coffee, trust me. You want a small one?" He offered and Kath hesitated before nodding her head, she hadn't been sleeping well since she left DJ. She often found herself just watching Dylan sleep at night, only snapping out of her thoughts when Dylan would start to wake up again a few hours later.
"Yeah... white and two sugars, please." Kath said with an innocent smile and Enrique chuckled, nodding his head.
"You got it." He assured her, before heading back inside to order their drinks and Kath turned her attention to Dylan, who was still whining in her stroller.
"Honey, what's the matter?" Kath cooed, lifting her out and she kissed her head. Dylan only got fussier then, curling into her Mom and Kath could tell by the way she whined and moved her legs that she was hungry. "Let's see if Mommy remembered to pack a bottle, huh?" Kath whispered to her, but she groaned as she reached into the side pockets of the baby bag. "Nope, Mommy left them in the fridge because she's an idiot." Kath cooed, shushing her as Dylan whined against her - it broke her heart. Dylan was six weeks old but she was only the size of an average newborn because she was so small. Kath looked around, assured that she was completely alone outside with her daughter and she lifted up her shirt, cradling her daughter so that she was comfortable and supported as she breastfed and Kath covered herself and Dylan with the baby's light blanket for when Enrique would return, just to ensure that the private moment between her and Dylan would remain private and undisturbed. It wasn't her first time breastfeeding in public, but she hadn't ever done it with someone she barely knew before.
"I come bearing drinks and snacks," Enrique announced, setting a tray down in the middle of the table, handing Kath her coffee and a small plate with a muffin on it and he set his cappuccino and muffin down in front of himself. "Little one hungry?" Enrique assumed and Kath nodded her head.
"I left her bottles in the fridge." Kath rolled her eyes playfully, making him laugh.
"My ex used to do it all the time in public, it isn't a big deal."
"You have a baby?"
"Yeah, a boy - Alex." Enrique showed Kath his lock screen and she smiled wide.
"He's adorable."
"He just turned two... he's my miracle." Enrique breathed. "His Mom passed away in a car accident last year... no doctor expected him to survive, but he did."
"I-I'm so sorry." Kath choked out but Enrique shook his head.
"Don't be, I've been in therapy ever since for mourning and Alex is my damn life now - he's just spending the day at his grandma's."
"But you're spending the morning with a newborn instead." She said playfully and Enrique couldn't help but laugh, which made Kath smile too.
