Chapter 56

"I'll go get us something to eat whilst she's still sleeping," DJ said softly, pecking Kath's lips. "You stay here and watch over Mommy and Dylan for me, monster," DJ said, ruffling his hair and Noah nodded his head.

"I will, Daddy." He vowed and Kath smiled, wrapping her arms around Noah and she shared another kiss with DJ before he walked out of the room, shutting the door behind himself and he checked his phone as he walked towards the cafeteria - he grinned when he saw his Instagram feed, instantly liking Kath's post and he commented just two words, but those two words meant so much more than anything:

'My girls.'

"Can I hold her hand?" Noah asked quietly.

"Of course you can, monster... she might recognize your voice, you know, since as you read her a beautiful story," Kath said, kissing his hair and Noah giggled, reaching into the crib and he very carefully touched her tiny hand - he'd seen babies before at the park, but he'd never been around one before and he was nervous that he'd hurt her.

"She's really soft," Noah whispered excitedly, making Kath laugh.

"All new babies are! We have to be really delicate when we give her baths, so her skin doesn't get dry." Kath explained, knowing that he liked to know everything - he wanted to know everything to do with babies, he wanted to help out. "Mommy and Daddy might even have to give her little massages." Kath smiled as Noah giggled.

"I get massages too?" Noah beamed and Kath laughed.

"We'll see." She said, watching as Noah finally held onto Dylan's hand properly but he instantly retracted it and whimpered as Dylan started to wake up, threatening to cry.

"I'm sorry, Mommy!" Noah was instantly panicking, but Kath shushed him as she lifted Dylan out of her crib.

"No, monster! You didn't hurt her, she's just getting hungry." Kath assured him and she turned her attention to Dylan. "Oh, baby girl! I know, honey." She cooed, kissing her head as her daughter whined, threatening to cry. She hadn't properly cried since the moment she was born. Kath cradled her daughter, moving her hospital gown out of the way and she couldn't help but laugh as Noah giggled, watching his little sister breastfeed.

"What's she doing?"

"She's eating, monster... Mommy's make a special kind of milk for their babies, and this is how she gets it." Kath explained and Noah couldn't help but giggle.

"We have milk at home!" Noah exclaimed, making her laugh.

"She's too little to have that kind of milk yet, she's very delicate and this is what's best for her to grow up big and strong like you... it also helps Mommy to bond with Dylan, because we're together like this - it's nice and private," Kath said and Noah smiled.

"When can she eat like us?"

"When she's got enough teeth to be able to chew properly without choking, monster, so in a couple of months I and Daddy will maybe give her something soft she won't have to chew so much."

"Otherwise she'll bite you." Noah giggled and Kath couldn't help but laugh, nodding her head.

"She might! But she won't mean to, she needs our help to do everything! But we'll find a way for you and her to bond too, so her big brother will be her best friend." Kath said with a grin and Noah giggled, nodding his head enthusiastically.

"I can help with baths!"

"That would be super helpful, monster." Kath praised, pecking his lips and Noah giggled, watching over Dylan as she fed on Kath's breast. It was strange to him, but he was starting to understand.

"I leave Mommy and Dylan to bond in private!" Noah announced, sliding carefully off the bed and he brought Leo with him.

"Don't leave this room, Noah, please," Kath warned.

"I won't. I just stand here." Noah said, facing the wall by the door and Kath couldn't help but laugh, giving Dylan all of her attention. She adored her daughter, and she felt the overwhelming urge to cry as Dylan laid one of her tiny hands between Kath's breasts. Her daughter was pure magic, her little miracle.

Kath looked up as the door opened, smiling to see DJ there but she couldn't help but laugh when Noah instantly blocked the door.

"No, Daddy! You can't come in!" He warned and DJ chuckled out of pure shock.

"What are you doing?!" DJ chuckled. "I have breakfast!"

"No! Mommy and Dylan are bonding and it's private, Daddy. We leave them alone!" Noah said sternly, making Kath laugh and DJ rolled his eyes playfully at Kath, making her laugh more and DJ held his hand out for Noah.

"Fine, then how about you and me go look into the big room with all the babies and try and find the ugliest one?" DJ teased.

"Daniel!" Kath scolded as DJ chuckled and Noah burst into a fit of giggles.

"Bye, Mommy!" Noah called as DJ led him away.

"No! Daniel, don't-" She cut herself off as DJ smirked and shut the door, leaving Kath and Dylan alone. "You and me have to stick together, princess, it's the only way we're gonna survive." She said playfully, but she couldn't wipe the grin from her face.
