DJ followed Kath out of the room, seeing her in the nursery starting to pack Dylan's things. "Kath, please... you can't go! Noah can't function without you - I can't function without you!" DJ exclaimed, desperate.
"I love that boy with my entire fucking heart, but I can't stay here with you... I can't pretend I can trust you, because I can't. I'd still like to see him... maybe at your parents' house, so I don't have to see you for a little while. You can see Dylan the same way." Kath said, but DJ grabbed onto her arm to make her stop packing but she shoved him away from her. "Don't touch me!" She sobbed.
"You can't guilt trip me into staying. You're going to have to be the one to tell him why I'm leaving, because I'm not the reason that boy is gonna be broken hearted... if I could legally take him with me, I would, but he isn't my son by blood. I'm going to miss him so much, I'm going to miss us and what we could have had... but I'm not the reason we can't be together anymore." Kath said, shoving the last of Dylan's clothes into the baby bag and she rushed downstairs and out the front door, throwing the baby bag into the trunk of the car before heading inside again.
"Mommy?!" Noah called, scared but Kath took off running up the steps and into the master bedroom, pulling down one of her suitcases and she started to pack up her essentials.
"There's nothing I can say to make you stay?" DJ's voice was defeated.
"I want us to stay friends, for the kids' sake... but I can't trust you as a fiancée, or even a boyfriend and I hope you can understand why." Kath said and DJ slowly nodded his head.
"J-Just know that I'm so sorry."
"I wish I could say I forgive you, but I can't," Kath said simply, smoothing out her clothes so she could fit more into the case.
"I'll make sure you get the rest of your things... I'll have Mom pass it onto you or something when we arrange a time for you to see Noah. You're his Mom, you're never gonna stop seeing him." DJ said softly and Kath locked her eyes on his, tears streaming down her cheeks.
"I'm not his Mom, though, am I? I... I'm nothing." Kath breathed, shutting the suitcase and zipping it closed and she swatted at DJ as he came closer to her but she couldn't help but kiss him back when he leaned in to kiss her. She soon pushed at his chest, getting him away from her.
"You'll always be something to him... to me."
"If I was something to you, you wouldn't have gone behind my back," Kath said simply, going through to the nursery with the suitcase and she carefully lifted up Dylan and she cradled her sleeping daughter with one arm, carrying her suitcase with the other down the steps. It was the hardest thing she'd ever done to ignore Noah as he called for her, scared at the sight of suitcases and she could feel him watching as she put the suitcase in the trunk of the car and Kath strapped Dylan into her car seat.
"Mommy, where are you going?! I wanna go!" Noah pulled on her shirt desperately, tears burning his eyes when he saw that she was crying. She held onto his wrists, making him let go of her shirt and DJ came over as Kath knelt down on the driveway, eye level with the little boy she loved as her own.
"Monster, Daddy and I... we're not gonna be living together anymore, but I'll still see you all the time and you'll see Dylan all the time too, okay? I love you with my whole heart, never ever think any different... I love you so much." Kath pulled Noah in for a tight hug as the little boy broke down sobbing, gripping onto her as if his life depended on it and DJ let out a sob - it tore him apart, knowing he was responsible for every tear his son and Kath shed. He'd torn his family apart by lying.
"I wanna go with you!" Noah sobbed and Kath kissed his head, slowly pulling away from him, sniffling but more tears kept streaming down her face.
"I'd love nothing more than for you to come with me, but... but Mommy isn't your real Mommy and that isn't allowed... you have to stay here with Daddy." Kath sobbed as Noah practically screamed, going to throw himself at Kath but DJ caught him, lifting him up but Noah was kicking his legs, fighting DJ but it was no use - it was making Dylan start to cry in the backseat, the loudness and being able to pick up on the atmosphere around her.
"MOMMY!" Noah screamed, sobbing as he was forced to watch Kath get into the driver's seat of the car. She didn't look back as she drove away, knowing she'd break down completely if she did. "NO! MOMMY! COME BACK!" Noah sobbed, hitting DJ as his Dad put him down. "GET MOMMY BACK!"
"I messed up, Noah... but you'll still see her, I promise." DJ said through tears, going to hug his son but Noah just ran into the house, screaming through tears.
