Kath's midwife was waiting for them as they arrived at the hospital and it was less than five minutes later when Kath was getting help to change into a hospital gown, a band being strapped around her stomach to keep track of Dylan's heartbeat as they waited for the midwife to return with an ultrasound machine.

"What if something's wrong? I... I can't lose her. We can't lose her." Kath choked out, her fingers laced with DJ's and he shook his head, kissing her fingertips.

"Don't think like that... her heart is beating, we know that and we can see that on the monitors. She's a fighter, just like her Mommy. She's our girl and no matter what happens, whether she's born with problems or fully healthy, she'll always be our little girl - our miracle." DJ said, his eyes lined with tears and Kath nodded her head, but she couldn't help but let out a sob. She was praying that after the ultrasound, her mind would be put to rest. Their heads went to the door as it opened, their midwife coming through the door pushing an ultrasound machine in front of her.

"I had to fight a colleague for this." She tried to make a joke, smiling when it made them crack smiles. "I know this is very scary and not exactly what we had planned, but that doesn't mean we can't work through this. Dylan is coping really well with contractions so far, we just need to make sure she's in a good position for the birth - see how she's lying after the fall because that bruise does look sore." The midwife said with a sympathetic tone, but it was laced with comfort. Kath couldn't even look at the screen as the ultrasound started, instead, she focused on the feeling of DJ's thumb running across the back of her hand and she watched the monitor that was keeping track of Dylan's heartbeat. It was steady, but still, too fast - it would hopefully come down as she relaxed.

"Look at our girl, K." DJ breathed, but Kath didn't move. She couldn't face her daughter if there was something wrong, she couldn't bear the thought of it.

"I can't." She choked out, tears falling down her face.

"It's safe to look, Kath, your daughter is doing really well." The midwife assured her.

"She is?"

"Look for yourself." The midwife encouraged and Kath slowly turned her head, her tears falling faster when she saw the ultrasound picture of Dylan. "Her head isn't quite all the way down yet, but there's still time for that to change and we'll keep an eye on that - from what I can tell, the cord isn't around her neck or anything like that and she's doing well. Mommy just has to relax to make sure things stay like this!" The midwife said, starting to clean Kath up from the gel and DJ leaned down, kissing her head and Kath breathed a sigh of total relief.

"Thank you." She choked out and the midwife let out a small laugh, shaking her head.

"No need to thank me for anything! Just relax, even get some sleep whilst you can before the contractions get a little more intense." She encouraged. "I'll be back soon to check on you." She promised, before leaving the room with the machine and DJ relaxed as Kath did against the bed, his hand still holding firmly onto hers.

"I told you she was strong like her Mom," DJ said, kissing her head again and Kath turned into him, burying her head in his chest as he sat on the edge of the bed. "Why don't you try and sleep now, huh? You and Dylan have both been given the all-clear... get some rest, baby girl." He said softly, holding her against him.

"I love you." She breathed.

"I love you too, baby... so much," DJ said, watching over her as she almost instantly let herself fall asleep - numb with relief from the news that their daughter was safe. DJ pulled out his phone, seeing a text from his Mom assuring him that she was on her way to the hospital and he sent a text out to everybody over their family group chat to let them know that Kath was in labor. Liza instantly messaged back saying she was on her way but assured him that she'd wait in the relatives' room for news so that they wouldn't be crowding Kath and he was relieved about that.

Now that Dylan and Kath had both been cleared of any problems, he found himself getting excited - he was finally meeting his daughter, they were going to be a true family and he was an engaged man. He kissed Kath's forehead as she slept against his chest, able to sleep through her contractions since as they weren't too painful yet. He went onto his social media, unable to stop himself from sending out a Tweet to his millions of followers:

'Our girl is on her way!!'

He grinned at all of Kath's fans that were instantly replying and all of the hype it was generating straight away but he set his phone down after a while, watching over Kath as she slept and keeping an eye on Dylan's monitor - protecting his girls.
