CHAPTER FORTY-NINE
Fusion of the Two Souls

Sam
Weak. I thought that I could kill him. I thought that the power, Sovran gave to me was enough. Or maybe it's not the power who was weak. Maybe it was me? Dumb. Fighting the Demon Lord was a huge mistake. Who will thought that even the girl who was prophesied to kill him failed to kill him at all. Useless.
I just ignored them. They could call me weak. They could call me dumb. And of course, useless. I just didn't care. After all, totoo naman talaga ang pinagsasabi nila. I'm weak, dumb, and useless.
No sounds could be heard and no lights could be seen. Just pure darkness. I couldn't even see my own body, pero alam kong nakalutang ako. Floating in a vast and dark unknown.
I'm sure I'm dead.
“Stop it, Sam,” biglang disturbo ng isang boses babae. “Don't look down on yourself, Sam. You are better than what you think you are.” Sus. Asa pa ako. Better talaga. Better maging mahina. Better maging bobo. At better maging walang kwenta.
Just a few meters away from me, was Margaux, standing and staring directly at me with her deadly eyes and stern face. She was wearing a dress made of light but the end of her dress was burning in black flames. She also had this headdress made also from light. But in her forehead was a flame of black, burning endlessly.
It's my first time seeing her, wearing this kind of look and it's kinda scary. But why?
I looked at Margaux, suot ang nagtataka kong mukha.
I wanted to know the reason behind that slap. I wanted to know and I must know.
"You already know it, Sam," seryosong bulalas niya na tila sinagot ang tanong ko. I already know it? "How pathetic of you, Sam. I didn't teach you to be like that,” dagdah niya. Ano na naman pinagsasabi niya? "I've heard everything, Sam. All your thoughts: how you look down on yourself and how you pray for your own death.
