Chapter Twenty-Seven

-Tessa's POV-

Scrolling through my phone, I lay on the edge of one of the plush couches with my boot covered feet stretched across Nash's lap.

Mahogany and Jacob are in the booth recording "Stay" by Rihanna and it sounds really nice. Their voices go together perfectly.

Shutting my phone off, I place it on my stomach and stare at the ceiling. I close my eyes and listen to the loud and few hushed conversations going on.

"I'm writing a new song right now actually. But all my stuff I left back in the car." Shawn explains. I hear Madison gasp slightly.

"Can I see a peek?" She asks.

I don't hear a response so I'm guessing he nodded.

I hear them stand. "Me and Madison are going to grab my song writing stuff. We'll be right back." Shawn says before heading over to the door. Madison's heels tapping on the floor as she follows him.

"Mmm k." Echoes through the room as the door shuts behind them.

"They'll be cute together." I say, not bothering to open my eyes. But I can feel eyes turning my direction.

"Yeah. She'll be good for him." Matt answers.

"Wait until she drags him on shopping trips. The will be interesting." Nash replies sarcastically.

"He's a pretty loyal guy. He'll be fine." Carter points out, letting the room fall back into silence.

Opening my eyes, I pull myself up and shift my body so I'm sitting next to Nash instead of away. Reaching up, I snatch his beanie and place it on my head. The gray color going well with my bright blonde hair.

I notice Nash's body is slanted into the corner the couch, his whole posture slouched.

Leaning over I place my head on his chest and stretch my legs across the rest of the couch area. Nash moves his arm in a way so that he can still comfortably use his phone.

I lie there for a moment and smile.

Nash needs to get a girlfriend, his chest is perfect for this.

"I'm tired. Mind if I sleep?" I ask. Nash nods as I cuddle my head into his abs just as my phone buzzes.

Pulling it out of my pocket, u see MOM in big letters.

Why is she calling?

Sitting up, I slide "Answer" and speak into the phone. "Hello?"

A voice I clearly recognize echoes through the speaker.

"Tessa?"

I stand. "Hey mom."

"Hi honey. How are you?"

"Good. Just recording songs. How's Dubai?"

"Good. It's warm and- wait, recording songs? What do you mean?" He asks.

Oh yeah. I never told her. Probably because we haven't talked in over a week and a half.

"Umm, yeah. Me and Mahogany are recording today along with some of the guys." I say shyly not knowing if she'll be mad.

There's silence.

"Well that's cool dear. But I was calling on behalf of some important news."

Always news. Never just to check in and say hi.

"Yeah?"

"Your father, he umm, well..."

"Mom?" I ask, starting to worry.
