Silent laughter

Fifth Step

Minato's POV

*Flashback

"I gonna be a father!?" I exclaimed as Kushina ran in the door

"Yeah," she squealed as she danced around in excitement 

"I am going to be a father!" I cheered as I ran up to her and lifted her into the air. As I picked her up I was met with a swift smack to the head

"Ow, what was that for?" I questioned as I put her down

"You can't do that you might hurt the baby," she said getting a quick pause out of me before I chuckled

"What's so funny?" she asked looking angry, I gave her a quick kiss on the cheek 

"You will make a great mother," I said as I went back to what I was doing

"Of course I would!" she said matter-of-factly as she danced around the room some more.

*Flash forward 9 months

Kushina kept screaming out in pain as she pushed trying to force the baby out while battling to keep control over the nine tails chakra. I was doing all I could to keep the seal to hold but there was only so much I could do when it came to delivering the baby.

"You're doing great, How do you feel?" I politely asked which was met with another painful grunt

"Like shit, and you?" she asked smiling. That was the Kushina I would always remember the one who always smiled even through the pain.

"I hope our child turns out just like you," I said as I nuzzled my face up against hers

"No way, if he ends up like me he will be a handful," she said "He is gonna be a genius just like his father, and have your good looks too," she said as another grunt cut her off followed by a sigh of relief.

"It's a boy," the doctor said as she wrapped the baby and handed him to Kushina.

"My Naruto," she said. Those would be the first and one of the last things she would say to him.

*Flash forward 5 years

"Are you ready for your first day at the academy?" I asked Naruto as he jumped down the last few stairs. He nodded at me with a giant smile on his face as he shoved a piece of toast in his mouth and ran out the door. I grabbed my tea and jogged to catch up with him.

'Fast little bugger,' I thought as Naruto looked behind him and started running faster. I smiled as I ran faster to catch up with him. I passed him about two minutes before we got to the academy. He walked up to the front door panting as I put my hand on his shoulder

"Not yet but soon enough," I told him. He smiled at me and waved bye as he walked in the front door. I quickly teleported to my office knowing I was a little late with starting my day. I started filling out paperwork then around noon I dropped everything I was doing as teleported into the middle of the woods away from any inhabited area. I pulled out three scrolls and placed them on the ground. I opened one and released the seal on the kunai having it appear in my hand. It was much skinnier than my other kunai and the markings on it were much more advanced.

"Ok let's go," I said as I made two shadow clones and handed them the other two scrolls. we stood in a triangular formation and held the kunai with two hands out in front of us. each clone nodded to me then we each began teleporting in a circle as fast as we could. As we circled the kunai began to burn up and we had to replace them but soon enough the wind started to pick up and sparks started to fly. When I was on my second to last kunai I threw one up into the air teleporting to it at the same time releasing my two shadow clones. Similarly to how memories pass from shadow clones once they are released so is their energy. the electricity arced towards the kunai which I now threw back down at the ground. As the kuai made contact with the ground the energy from my two shadow clones hit the kunai creating a crater in the ground and not even a second later I teleported to the kunai using the remainder of my energy to widen the crater even more. As I stood up patting down my clothes which were a little singed I looked around at the crater I had created. The crater could have encompassed half the village. Where once trees stood there weren't even ashes to leave the memory of what once stood there. I tried to turn around but fatigue hit me and I began to fall over. I managed to teleport back to my office and promptly pass out in my chair. I woke up what I assume is a few hours later to a candlelit room. I glanced up to see Naruto sitting in his normal chair reading a scroll

"Morning?" I said as I looked around

'Kinda, 1 am-ish' he said as he continued reading his scroll

'long day' he said as he put the scroll down and walked over to me.

"Yeah, you could say that," I said as I stretched. "Hey who about some Ichiraku ramen," I said. His face lit up as we both teleported to our favorite place. 

"Hey Teuchi," I said as he was cleaning dishes

"Little late for you to be out with Naruto isn't it Minato," he said laughing as Naruto sat down

'I'm not a little kid,' he said trying to look threatening as he broke apart his chopsticks

"There you have it," I said as I sat down and did the same. Naruto ate till he passed out

"Just like his mother," Teuchi said stopping me from eating

"Hey Teuchi," I said to him "There is something I need for me,"

*Present time

'Thank you Teuchi' I thought as each of Naruto's shadow clones pulled out a kunai and held it out in front of them. They all began teleporting in a circle moving at a faster pace than I could ever achieve. The wind picked up around me creating a wind vortex. I tried to move but the wind kept me in place. I was forced to the center of the vortex as it gained height and speed. I could briefly see a shadow clone on the rare occasion teleport through the vortex. There was a sudden pop as Naruto released the shadow clones. I looked up to see the real Naruto throwing the kunai at me. Kabuto released his hold on me as the electricity arced towards the kunai burning my paper-like body leaving only parts of me standing. The kunai landed a few inches in front of me and I caught one last glimpse of Naruto as his foot collided with the ground shaking the earth as the energy burned off every last part of me that could have been reanimated. 

"Minato wake up," Someone said to me. I opened my eyes and looked to my left. There was an unbrushed mess of red hair lying next to me

"It's good to see you," Kushina said as she kissed me

"Good to see you too," I said kissing her back

"Hows Naruto?" she asked as I let out a little laugh

"You'll find out soon enough, we will be a family again," I said

"But not to soon, He still has things he needs to do in his world right now," Kushina said as she rolled over "You know, I always wanted grandchildren," she said making us both laugh

A/N wow I am rusty hopes this is ok, When I first wrote this chapter it was some strange stream of consciousness thing from Minato's point of view which touched into the real Naruto universe and it was just wack. So I hope  this makes more sense than whatever that was so
