Chapter 5 The Good, the Bad and the Beaver

As the guard rushed over to Kion, Fuli was already there and she was placing her paw all over Kions chest trying to find a heartbeat, and one of her ears was near Kions mouth.

Fuli P.O.V
I was trying not to freak out because all I could feel was a very faint heartbeat from Kions chest, and Kions breathing was very shallow.

As Fuli places her paw on Kions head to feel his temperature, she feels it's wet assuming its water, but then she looked at her paw and saw blood.

"Makini!!! I need some help over here now" Fuli yells.

Makini comes closer and her eyes widen as she sees blood on the top of Kions head. Makini then bends down and starts examining Kion injuries.

"It's not good Fuli his head is bleeding, his paws are bruised, and his left hind leg is scraped and bleeding," Makini said, as she looks at Fuli trying not to panic.

"Can you do something?" Fuli asks quickly with concern.

"right now Kion needs shelter" Makini saids as she puts her hand on Kions side looking back at Fuli.

A beaver rushes to get past the guard to get in front of Fuli and Makini.

"Come with us you can all rest in our lodge it's not far from here," the beaver leader said in a welcoming tone.

"With you.....you did this!!!" Fuli saids in an aggressive way.

"Listen I know you're angry but we didn't do this, we can explain everything later, but your friend doesn't have time, come with us if you want him to live" the beaver leader saids, very concerned and sincere while looking at the lion guard.

"He's right," Beshte and Bunga say together.

"What!!" Fuli saids in disbelief

Anga flys down and lands beside Fuli and looks at her in the eyes.

"Look Fuli I don't trust them either but look at Kion, do we really have a choice," Anga said as she reassures Fuli.

Before Fuli said anything else, she turned around and looked at Kion, who just lay there on his side bleeding, and unconscious.

Lead The way she said turning back, looking at the beavers.

As the beavers lead the way Fuli helped Bunga, and Makini slowly put Kion on Beshte's back. After he was on they followed the beavers.

As the guard followed the beavers, all Fuli could do was watch Kion as Beshte carried him.

Fuli P.O.V
Please be okay...Kion... I can't lose you. All I could think about was Kion I didn't even care about the fact that my fur is drenched in the water right now.

As Makini was looking at Kion her eyes shifted to Fuli. Makini could tell Fuli was deep in thought. So Makini put her hand on Fuli's back.

"Don't worry Fuli we'll get him help?" Makini said to help calm and support Fuli.

"I hope your right" Fuli said as she looked down and continued to walk.

"Are we almost there?" Anga asks as she flies over the beavers.

But as Anga stops, everyone took a look forward and saw a big structure made of trees on the water.

"Come on, hurry" the leader beaver insisted.

The guard followed until they were inside.

"Go get my basket" the leader beaver whispered to another beaver.

"Of course father," the beaver said as he left.

As the leader beaver turned around to look at Kion he noticed Fuli started licking Kions wounds. As she did that the leader beaver took a look at Kion.

Fuli Looks up at the beaver.

Well...Can...You...Help him Fuli asked with concern as she continued to lick the wounds.

"Your friend's injuries may look bad but we can help" the leader beaver saids as his son comes back with a basket full of herbs, leaves, and flowers.

Fuli stopped licking and let the beaver take over.

"Care to explain yourself now," Anga asks.

"Right, I'm Buku, I'm the leader of this colony," he said, but as he spoke he was crushing the flowers and started mixing it with some herbs.

As silence broke out  Buku dipped some leaves in the paste he made and started wrapping Kions wounds.

"You said it wasn't you who did this to our friend, so who did this" Bunga asked breaking the silence.

*sigh* "Not long ago I was forced to kick my brother Laki, out of our colony," Buku said as he cleared his throat.

"Why...How...Was he evil" Bunga interrupted

"I'm getting to that honey badger," Buku told Bunga.

"He disagreed with our way of life, all he wanted to do was fight he would injure animals and leave them to die" Buku Continued.

"One day he severely hurt beavers from his own colony, he was out of control, and he was causing more trouble than good, so I did what I had to. I kicked him out of our colony" Buku said as he was tying the bandages he made for Kions wounds.

"How did you know out friends was in the river," Beshte asked.

"well as we were repairing our dam my beavers came to me and said they saw Laki knocked an animal into the river so we came as fast as we could to help, that's when we saw your friend, so we jumped in the river and tried to save your friend," Buku said as he tied the last bandage.

Everyone was silent until Makini stepped forward and looked at Buku.

"thank you Buku, if it wasn't for you I don't know if we could get Kion out," Makini said thanking Buku.

"no problem, Your friend is stable all he needs is lots of rest, your all welcome to stay as long as you want," Buku said getting up.

"I'll be back, I'm going to get more tuliza so I can make medicine your friend can drink tomorrow Buku said about to leave.

"Wait could we get some more tuliza for our friend," Makini asked politely.

Buku turned around to look at Makini.

"Of course follow me," Buku said with a smile. Makini followed Buku.

Fuli P.O.V
Calm down Fuli, he's going to be alright. My heart was beating fast. But I couldn't stop looking at Kion just seeing him like this made my heart sink. I nuzzled him hoping he would wake up

Makini returned with Buku a few minutes later.

Buku walked in and looked around to see the entire guard preparing to sleep.

Bunga walked towards Buku.

"Thanks for letting us stick around," Bunga said trying to make a joke.

"Bunga!!" everyone said annoyed.

There was a little silence after Bunga made everyone a bit annoyed, but Buku just smiled.

"You all look exhausted, rest now and we'll talk first thing tomorrow morning" Buku saids as he walks away.

Fuli walked over to Kion and laid down right beside him. Fuli then put her paw on Kions paw.

"Don't worry Kion I'm here for you" Fuli said as she put her head down. Then the rest of the guard put their heads down ready to sleep the night.
