Chapter 21 Kion Loses Confidence

Meanwhile At The Tree Of Life

Rani starts waking up and she's in a pit with other animals, "What happened" Rani said placing her paw on her head. A hyrax went up to Rani, "Kiba and his forces trapped everyone who couldn't make it out here"  the hyrax said scared. Rani puts her paw on the hyrax "It's ok, help will be on the way we just have to wait" Rani said trying to calm the hyrax. "I doubt that," Kiba said looking in the hole, "KIBA!" Rani growled looking up at Kiba. "All your friends ran into the forest," Kiba said smiling evilly. Kiba looked behind him and Makucha stood there, "When can we destroy the Lion Guard" Makucha asked, "In time Ruby and some of my wolves are searching for them, once we find them we can destroy them and then we will feast" Kiba said grinning evilly. Makucha grinned evilly back as he turned to look at his team.

Meanwhile In The Forest

The Lion Guard and Night Pride ran into the forest until they saw a giant river and a bunch of the animals from the tree of life gathered around it. The Elder noticed them and ran over, "I'm glad you could make it" The Elder said relived. As The Elder raised her head to look behind the Lion Guard she noticed Rani wasn't with them, "Where is Rani" The Elder said looking at Kion concerned. Kion looked down then looked at the Elder, "I'm sorry she is still at the tree" Kion admitted looking sad. Before the elder said anything a lion behind the elder pounced on Kion, the lion guard was going to help Kion until the Night Pride stopped them and growled at them. "Scout what are you doing?" The Elder questioned the lion on Kion, the lion looked at the elder "He hesitated," Scout said raising his tone, and he quickly looked back at Kion. "I saw you Kion you could have used the roar but you didn't WHY!" Scout yelled growling at Kion. Fuli tried to get past but the Night Pride didn't let them, "I wasn't fast enough" Kion said looking at Scout. "You're supposed to be the leader of the lion guard, but after that your no leader!!!" Scout yelled once again looking at Kion, "I'm...Sorry" Kion struggled to say as Scout's claws were digging in his fur. "ENOUGH!!" The Elder yelled hitting Scout off of Kion, Scout rolled and looked up at the elder with a face of disgust, "Your helping the lion that cost us the tree of life and Rani!!!" Scout yelled. The elder runs up to Scout and pins him down quickly, "Listen to me Scout Kion was just healed he needs rest that's why he can't think clearly" the elder said as she had Scout pinned down. Scout was trying to break her hold, "You said the leader of the lion guard was brave and fierce, Kion just ran and didn't stop Kiba and don't even get me started with the Makucha" Scout yelled almost breaking free, "Take a rest and we can talk later" The Elder said before applying pressure with her paw on the side of Scout's neck putting him to sleep.  The Elder let him go and she turned and looked at the Night Pride "That's enough Scout may be the second in command but his anger gets the best of him, the rest of you let the Lion Guard through" The Elder said looking at the Night Pride.

The Night Pride sits down and quickly apologize as the Lion Guard runs to Kion, "You okay Kion" Fuli said looking at his paws. Kion looks at Fuli and licks her on the cheek and looks at her in the eyes "I'm fine Fuli" Kion said smiling as he gets up. Kion goes to the elder "Thank you" Kion said thanking The Elder, "No problem Kion, don't mind Scout he can be overprotective when it comes to Rani" The Elder told Kion. Kion looked at the Lion Guard "Scout was right" Kion said looking down, Ono looked at Kion, "It's not your fault Kion we all know you're doing your best". Kion looks up to Ono, "Well my best isn't good enough I couldn't even stop Makucha" Kion said losing faith. Fuli walked up to Kion and looked at him in the eyes, "Kion you're a good leader remember all the good calls you would make back in the Pride Lands" Fuli explained reminding Kion. Kion looked at Fuli, "Thanks Fuli but that was in the Pride Lands and because of me the villains took the tree of life and I couldn't stop them" Kion said turning around walking into the forest. Bunga was about to follow Kion but Fuli stopped Bunga, "Bunga let Kion think for a bit" Fuli told Bunga. Beshte walks over to Fuli, "What do we do now Fuli" Beshte asked, "We get Rani and the tree of life back" Fuli said looking at the Lion Guard. Fuli looked over to the Night Pride, "We need your help so are you in" Fuli asked looking at the lions and lionesses. A Lioness stepped forward "Of course we'll help you so we can get Rani and the tree of life back. The Lioness looked at The Elder, "Are You coming elder" she asked, "No I'll stay here and watch over the animals, plus I'm going to have a talk with Scout when he wakes up" The Elder said. The Lion Guard and Night Pride turned around following the path to head back to the tree of Life.

As Kion walked away he was near a cliff and he sat down looking out to the forest thinking to himself. But Kion looks up and sees clouds start forming in the sky, "Kion what's troubling you" Mufasa asked as he appears in the clouds. Kion looks up and sees Mufasa, "Grandfather I've made a mistake, I hesitated and It caused us to lose the tree of life and Rani, Kiba, and Makucha can't be stopped" Kion explained to Mufasa. "Kion all evil can be defeated you just need confidence and Faith," Mufasa said looking at Kion. "But grandfather Scout was right I can't lead the Lion Guard, I don't know what to do," Kion said looking at Mufasa. "Kion don't let others decide what you can do or not, Kion you weren't chosen as leader just because your fierce, you were chosen because you have Confidence and your perseverance helps you lead the lion guard and Kion you can do anything you set your mind too, that's why your a good leader Kion and your friends know that" Mufasa said. Kion smiled and looked up at Mufasa one more time, "Thank you granfather" Kion said thankfully. The clouds started to fade "And remember Kion have Confidence in yourself" Mufasa said smiling before he disappeared. Kion smiled and thought to himself "Grandfather is right I can do this, and they need my help". Kion turned back around and ran back until he saw The Elder. Kion looked at The Elder, "where are the others" Kion asked. "They left to fight Makucha and Kiba, they didn't leave too long you can still catch up" The Elder explained pointing her paw in the direction they went. Kion turned and ran the direction the elder pointed so he could help.
