mentally unstable

It was nine in the morning and I was running late for work, i kept my eyes on the road only moving them down to check my phone or to take sips of my coffee. I loved my job and the people I got to meet I never got bored that's the positives of working in a mental health facility specifically for insane people. I ran into the building and begun to sign in at the front desk "Audrey there's a new one in the psych you have an appointment with him in three" I looked at receptionist in awe "can I have his file Julia" I asked "she handed me a chunky file with a beige cover I read the red writing on the label I began to run down the hallway and into the assessment room "hello love" I heard a northern accent pronounced "hello Dominic Harrison I am Dr Audrey Wilkes and I am going to ask you a few questions is that ok" I asked calmly his green eyes were on me gazing at which point I hadn't looked at him but when I did I had a slight pang of shock his eyes were looking at me, staring even. "did you know that spiders don't have lungs" I had just sat down on the metallic chair "well Audrey did you know?" he seemed to be getting angry "no i didn't know that" I replied hesitatingly he then wacked his head against the table smooshing a spider "what the hell" I whispered he pulled his head from the table "sorry love I thought you were scared of spiders" I saw him begin to pout "i-i am" I gasped he suddenly began to laugh manically " Dominic are you okay" he stared. His stare was and could be traumatic I placed my note pad onto the table 

 "So, Dominic why are you in here" his eyes were trailing around the room 

"I told the police the voices had become too loud and I wanted to shut them off, so I ate my girlfriends' ear" I looked at him hopefully 

"so, doc what can you do" he asked looking into my eyes 

"i don't yet but I promise I will do my best to help you"  

It was a few hours later and I was walking past the ICU to reveal that Dominic was in a heavily cushioned room I saw Dominic pushing his face against the slightly clouded window "Audrey please open the window I want to ask you some questions I grabbed a set of key s and unlocked the small window  

"how long will I fucking be in here I miss Donny and I miss Adam and pizza"  

"Dom I am not sure when you can get out it all depends on the progress you make but If you can tell me what the voices say I might bring you in some pizza" Dominic's eyes widened as a smile appeared 

"ummm well right now the voices are telling me that I could break out of this thing easily if I spit on you, take your keys and stuff like that and then they remembered that you are very pretty and nice so I won't do that yet but trust me if you start looking at me like the others do I won't be happy" he began to have small ticks and twitch in his neck  

I began to whisper "okay then" I then locked the window Dom stood and watched as I locked him away from social interaction he began to pout as soon as I locked the door fully, he seductively growled and winked at me. I walked away hearing him bark and becoming even more angry the further I got. 

I reached my office while I wrote down my synopsis 'ok then definitely adhd,pshycosis and maybe bipolar' I thought while scanning through his file and through my own interactions with him i was sat down with a cup of coffee next to me slowly growing colder I traced my finger around the top of it, staring at the bleak walls. 

I was driving home I was only twenty two and driving and being a doctor was very stressful the only reason I got the job so early was because I had perfect grades my entire life and when it came to jobs i found that they were being thrown at me, ever since I was young I took an interest in psychology. When I finally got home, I heard scratching at my door it was my Pitbull, Lancaster who I had named after the place in the UK but she usually goes by the nickname lanky. I lied on my sofa In  pajamas thinking all about my newest client "hey lanky what do you think about him" I asked not expecting a reply she quickly snuggled up to me at which point the only thing that i could think of was his pale complexion contrasting with his lively green eyes 

I had woken up to the sound of scratching I saw Lancaster scratching away at the door so I let her out when I decided to get dressed for work today I grabbed a Radiohead t shirt with a black blazer and matching trousers I strolled into my kitchen and grabbed some frozen pepperoni pizza from freezer. I eventually got into the car and drove to work but this time I was becoming even more excited to see Dominic. 

"good morning Audrey early to work I see" Julia said chirpily 

"you know what they say hard working or working hard" i let out a small grin as I wrote my name down on the sheet "good morning Dominic" i said to him through the glass  

"mornin' love have we got a session" his voice seemed to be getting higher pitched showing signs of excitement "yeah we do let me get you out okay" I exclaimed his green eyes were facing the keys twisting open the door. 

"so, Dominic how are you today" 

"I'm wonderful after seeing you ever since I saw you yesterday the voices got quieter" 

"well then that's some good news, oh yeah I bought you something" I said while fishing around in my purse "I bought you pizza"  

"that's so fucking nice I think I could kiss ya love" he said while trying to lean over the table to kiss me "love can you please undo this" he exclaimed gesturing to his straitjacket  

"how's about I heat up your pizza you can have it for lunch, and we can talk some more in your room without the jacket" I suggested his head nodded when the guards grabbed his armpits and pulled him from the room and into his. I went into the staff room and put the pizza in the microwave then I put it into a paper bag and hid it under my blazer so that I wouldn't get caught. 

I was sat in the corner closest to the door so no one could see that I was talking to him,Dominic was sat next to me "hey love what do you think about taking off this dumb jacket" he asked while pouting at me "listen i need you to wait until this place closes alright" I replied at which point Dominic was telling me all about Doncaster and Adam "do you want to know something funny Dominic?" I asked he quickly nodded enthusiastically "my dog is called Lancaster because I visited the UK once and tried to get to London and ended up in Lancaster" Dom began to laugh hysterically when they turned out the lights "okay then Dom I can let you out now" I whispered I began to remove him from the straitjacket to reveal his pale bear chest. 

Dom was scoffing down the pizza when he had finished, he bought his greasy hand to my face and whispered in my ear "thanks love" he saw that I was falling asleep and placed his arm around my shoulders and very gently kissed me on the head as soon as I realized that he had done this I instantaneously woke up to see him blushing he tried to utter a few words out when I placed my finger on his lips and began to kiss him. 

I began to hear alarms going off which startled me and Dom who had been kissing for a few hours only stopping when we needed oxygen I stared through the foggy glass to see what was going on I saw my coworkers screaming and running past the door at which point Dom was stood up next to me eagerly awaiting "well doctor Audrey can i just say I don't need to wait to get out because our friendly neighborhood terrorists and Adam are here to free everyone here and kill the doctors but I don't think i will let them kill you if you marry me right now" he said my eyes began to widen "what dom did-did you plan this" 

"abso-fucking-lutely" he exclaimed "ummm okay do we have to be married can I just be your fiancé" I asked 

"nah you have to be my wife love" he yelled the gunshots were getting louder I didn't know what else I could do I quickly wrapped my arms around him and whispered "okay then but I need to get my dog first" dom's face went emotionless "okay then wifey lets go" his cell door swung open revealing to me a life that I didn't want to be a part of but at least I was in love the whole way through it
