"Mom.... I have cancer...." the lad admitted to her mother.
Her mother gasped in shock. She would never have thought Lisa would get this. Lisa has been always healthy and never could've skipped meals. Or maybe it's just her, maybe Lisa did skip meals. She wasn't sure about that but one thing she's sure about- Lisa has always been Lisa. She has always been the happy bean we all know.
"Lisa...." her mother started crying, hard for her to take in what her daughter has just said.
Her daughter, the only daughter. The only girl she gave birth in her life, Lisa.
"Mom... don't cry..." Lisa started tearing up, her voice cracked. Seeing her mom cry is the last thing she wanted to see before she die.
"Can we cure it?" Her mom asked with hope.
Lisa nodded, rubbing her mother's back, telling her it's all gonna be fine.
"I'll go to England for cure. But I don't know when.."
"Lisa... please go quick.." her mom cried in desperation. She was desperate for her daughter to get healed. She wanted it to end fast. Her daughter's suffering and pain to end. Lisa shook her head, still crying.
"I-I can't mom.... my friends..."
Her mom nodded understandingly as what her daughter wants. It's hard and risky but she can't do anything. It's Lisa's life, not hers.
Before the talk and the visit, well let's just say... Before the their day even started. That morning, Lisa decided to visit her mom, dragging her friends with her. Her friends, Jennie, Rosé and Jisoo, didn't protest. They agreed to her plan and went with her, silence followed them. No one really wanted to talk. They were tired from yesterday. I mean who would not be tired? 4 in the morning? Really?
They went to Lisa's house and even though they were tired, they were in awe when they entered the building. It's been long since they visited Lisa's house and her mom. They surely missed the feeling of the embrace of Ms. Manoban.
The first thing they did was of course, greet Lisa's mom and receive the embrace they've been longing for. Especially Lisa.
Sure. Jennie, Rosé and Jisoo love their mother's embraces but Ms. Manoban's is one of a kind. You can feel the mother and daughter have gone through so much but still living their lives each day. You can feel the love and trust from the Mother's embrace. Yes, we can feel it from our mothers but its just.... different.... They barely see her but her love is always beside them and Lisa.
Lisa's mom prepared a feast in which she cooked by herself. Actually, with some help from the maids too.
They were famished. As a matter of fact, their saliva drooled when they saw the dishes and servings.
Ms. Manoban's dishes were never out of style.
Jennie loved it, she didn't even wanted to destroy the arrangements but she couldn't stop herself. So she dug in. Followed by Lisa and Jisoo.
Wait.
Rosé?
She started eating once she received her food. She dug in right away. The 4 ate happily, even made jokes while eating. Teardrops here and there.
They cried when they saw Ms. Manoban. They missed her dearly. Except Jisoo, of course. That gal. Has no empathy and sympathy at all. But she was happy to see Lisa's mom. Very happy.
After the meal or should I say meals, they sat in the living room and hung out out just like normal people do.
After some talks here and there, the mother and daughter decided to talk, leaving the others. They haven't talked for years. I mean they do frequently in facetimes, but that's a different matter. Reality and medias are two different things.
It wasn't a secret they would talk. Lisa told her friends so they wouldn't worry and try to eavesdrop. The two went to a private room which was empty, the other three, in the living room, sitting on the sofa, doing nothing are trying their best to socialize, with the maids and all those people. They're learning Thai from them.
The Manobans are really rich, they hired trilingual workers. The maids and drivers, even the gardeners could speak English, Thai and Chinese. And some of other languages, oh also Korean! They are really fluent too.
While the three were learning, Lisa and her mom talked.
Until Lisa decided to rant out her problem to her mom- the cancer.
