The thunder and showers got worse, and it just added to the awkwardness, between Zoya and Aditya, owing to the moment they shared just some time back."I am...sorry..."
Zoya said looking down, while Aditya stood there looking at Zoya, who was facing away from him.
"Why are you sorry...you actually saved me from an injury...and I should thank you..." Aditya said, turning behind and looking at the tree lying on the ground, as he fastened the buttons in his shirt.
"It's okay..." Zoya said, as she walked inside the house, while she was still not over that awkward moment she experienced with Aditya just then. Aditya too followed her, while they saw that the house was pitch dark. The candles had blown out due to the wind.
"I can't see anything..." Zoya said looking around, while they just got a glimpse of the house during the lightning flashes.
"Wait...don't walk anywhere alone...stay here itself..." Aditya said, as he looked around, "I will reach out to the torch."
Aditya walked forward and reached the coffee table and searched for the torch. Zoya stood there and looked around while all she wished was either for the power to come back, or Pooja and Arjun to come back. That seemed to be the only relief for her awkwardness. But looking at the violent rain outside, both the options seemed impossible for her at the moment.
I am alright. In fact, everything is alright.
She tried convincing herself; and she actually didn't know why she was convincing herself too in the first place.
It is natural to get stuck like this at times, nothing to feel awkward. And it's just Aditya...why am I feeling so uncomfortable with him? He is my...my friend...what's there to feel...uncomfortable?
But as much as she bravely reiterated those lines in her mind, the practical application of those lines felt really difficult.
"You are feeling uncomfortable?"
"Huh?" Zoya looked at Aditya with a startled face. She just stared at him blankly, while she asked herself:
I am so stupid! Did I actually speak aloud?
"Hello?" Aditya snapped at her, while leaning back on the sofa, after lighting the candles, "What's wrong? I just asked are you feeling uncomfortable standing in these wet clothes, and moreover a power cut...for that why are you giving such a startled expression?"
"Ohhh...you meant that?" Zoya smiled, as she took a deep breath.
"Why? What did you think?"
"Me? What did I think? Uhhh...Nothing much..." Zoya smiled, "I was just......" Zoya said, while she felt something near her leg. She looked down and saw a white cat near her leg, with its eyes glaring bright in that darkness, looking at her.
Zoya screamed at the top of her voice, startling Aditya who swiftly pulled his legs inside and squatted in the sofa, without understanding what was happening, while Zoya jumped on the sofa next to him.
"What the hell!! What's wrong?" Aditya asked with a perplexed face, looking at Zoya next to him.
"That one..." Zoya pointed towards the cat with a terrified face, clutching on to Aditya's arms, while Aditya saw the cat running towards the wooden cabinet and hiding behind it.
"Are you serious?" Aditya asked, letting out a sigh, while he put his legs down, "You ripped off my eardrums for this small tiny cat? God, Zoya...stop getting scared of cats! That poor thing must have entered inside for some shelter I guess, and it got scared with your scream and ran for its life...I feel it would have got a mini heart attack...poor thing! I will better take it to a veterinary doctor tomorrow..." Aditya held his ears and said, "And check myself with an ENT specialist...what a frequency you girls have!"
