Aditya was waiting at the reception area of the forensic department, which works under the Crime branch.
Just then a man came out, "Mr. Aditya Hooda??"
Aditya stood up hearing his name, while the person said, "You may go in."
Aditya heaved venting out his nervousness, while he wrapped his blazer a bit more, as he walked towards the cabin.
"Excuse me Sir!"
"Yes, Mr. Hooda...please come in!!"
Aditya walked inside and sat at the chair, and smiled briefly as the Chief Head looked into Aditya's portfolio, which he had already placed in his table.
"So, Mr. Hooda...I had a detailed study about you...your background in forensic criminology...your IPS career...even John D'Souza gave a very good review about you...I am impressed..."
Aditya nodded his head in gratitude with a light smile, while the man asked, "But, may I know why did you quit your police job?"
Aditya's face went glum hearing it, while the Chief continued, "Such a man who managed to shine in his IPS career and managed to climb up the rank ladder so fast to become an Assistant Commissioner very soon...and additionally an Encounter Specialist...Ace shooter...why?? Why a career shift at this stage??"
The shootout at that rainy day flashed Aditya's mind. He recalled that deadly bullet fire at that man, and his horrific realization of a wrong encounter, seconds later. He cleared his throat and looked at the Chief directly into his eyes, "I did a wrong encounter and happened to kill an innocent man in place of a criminal!"
The Chief clasped his palms together and rested his chin hearing that; his hand knees resting on the table, as he listened to Aditya.
"I wanted my due punishment for the crime I did...but, I was not given the liberty or permission to accept the rightful punishment for my crime too, because a lifeless department's reputation was of high priority than an innocent man's life...they covered it up."
The Chief listened while Aditya let out a deep breath as he said, "So I decided to punish myself for it...I quit my job...that job which made my hands guilty of a murder...an unplanned murder..."
Aditya looked at his right hand as he said that, while he looked up, "Hence this career shift...I don't have a habit of covering up deeds...if I have wronged someone, I need the punishment...but, if I have been wronged, I will decide his punishment!"
The Chief nodded his head slowly looking down tapping Aditya's portfolio, while Aditya observed him deep in thoughts.
"Well...I don't know what to say..." The Chief said closing Aditya's portfolio and shrugged his shoulders, while Aditya smiled at him, as he pulled his portfolio towards him.
"Sir, It's okay. You can tell it openly too, if you don't want to give me this job. I am cool about it. But I am not someone who wears a facade and pretend to be extra nice just to get a job...I don't think anything is worthy enough to be compromised with honesty...well...I will take my leave then!! Thanks for considering my job request, and sorry for wasting your time!"
Aditya got up from the chair and walked to the door, while the Chief said looking into his phone, "Fine...nice meeting you...just collect your appointment letter from my secretary before leaving, Mr. Hooda!!"
Aditya stopped at the door, while he had a surprised expression as he turned back at Chief.
The Chief smiled as he got up from his place, "I haven't seen such a transparent confident man in my life...the moment you said the actual reason for your resignation from the police department, I decided I am taking you in my team."
