Chapter 53: The Inevitable

There was complete silence all over, while Aditya and Zoya looked at Arjun and Pooja in turns, and Naani kept revisiting Arjun's words.

"Because...we are getting married next month!"

Thanks to Pooja's cocktail shower, Arjun smelled like a fruit shop, and he felt flies swarming over him. Pooja was as clueless as Aditya, Zoya, and Naani.

"So...what were you talking about?" Aditya asked taking a chair and sitting on it, "I didn't get much clarity on it."

"Me neither." Zoya said shrugging her shoulders as she looked at Pooja, "Pooja, care to explain?"

"Uhhh..." Pooja thought over it as she looked at Arjun, "Actually...we..."

"...have been in love for a long time. We were just waiting for Bhai to get married and then declare our relationship. And, since Bhai too got Bhabhi in his life, we can't wait any longer. So, we decided to get married soon, and before that, Bhai married because it wouldn't be nice to get married before my elder brother. Hence the decision!"

Arjun choked, saying all those in a single stretch, while Aditya and Zoya looked at each other in astonishment.

"No wonder this fellow so badly wanted me to convince you to get married, Adi!" Naani said, nodding her head slowly, while Aditya stared at Arjun.

"See, what all these two has been hiding from us. And we were thinking that Arjun is still a small kid." Naani said while Aditya said, "I always told you this guy was no child, Naani, when did you listen to me?" He looked at Arjun and asked, "Is that all, or is there anything else too?"

"As of now, I think that's it," Arjun said with a smile.

"Pooja, even you hid all this from me. Not fair, Pooja!" Zoya said curling her lips outward, while Pooja muttered with a smile, "Even I know now only."

"Anyway...I am happy!" Zoya said with a wide smile, while Aditya looked at her, "Happy? How can you forgive them that soon?"

"Come on Aditya. My friend and I are gonna be co-sisters and we are never gonna be apart from each other, ever. What else can I ask for?" Zoya said as she went and hugged Pooja and Arjun.

"I can't explain in words how happy I am! I wish you both lots and lots of happiness." Zoya said while Pooja and Arjun looked at each other.

Zoya broke the hug, while Aditya too came to Arjun.

"All this seems too much for me to take at the moment. And I am still mad at you for hiding this from me for such a long time." Aditya patted Arjun's cheek, smiling, "But I am happy for you, my little brother. I still can't see you as a grown-up man all ready for marriage!"

Arjun smiled, as they both hugged each other, while Aditya looked at Pooja, "I just can't digest the fact that I will have to bear your nonsense lifelong now!"

Pooja feigned a smile, while she said, "So sad!"

"Alright!" Naani said getting up from her chair, "Enough of you all your hugs and taunts. Now, can we seriously start with the wedding planning?"

Arjun nodded, while Naani said, "At the moment, only Adi's wedding, Chotte!"

Arjun chuckled, while Aditya and Zoya went with Naani to the bedroom. Meanwhile, Pooja grabbed Arjun's hand and sneaked with him to the kitchen.

"Behave yaar, Pooja!" Arjun said, leaving her to hold his hand, while Pooja said in a hushed tone, "Shut up, Arjun! What have you said to them? I mean...I am not...I am still...how can you..."

Arjun moved towards her, and held her by her shoulders, "Pooja, relax! There's nothing to worry about. At that moment, I didn't have any other reason in my mind to explain why I did what I did. That was the only reason which made them all quiet. And, about us marrying, even though I wish for that more than anything else, I will not force you...ever!"
