"Were you out of your stupid mind?"
Aditya was sitting in the sofa in his living room, with his head hung down and his hands clutching his hair, while Arjun stood opposite him with a furious look.
"What were you thinking in your mind, before asking such an absurd question to her, Bhai? You couldn't have said anything worse to her. What's wrong with you? I mean, just to prove your point, you will ask anything to anyone? And out of anyone, how could you hurt her this way?"
Pooja came to Arjun and patted his shoulder, "Arjun, relax! He must have said suddenly without thinking much. You know Adi usually doesn't speak anything like this..."
"Exactly my point!" Arjun shrugged off Pooja's hand from his shoulder, "Isn't Bhai the calmest person out of us all? He carefully articulates his words before speaking, and how did he say something like this? And what was the need of bringing Yash into this picture! She finally moved on from her past and embraced Bhai in her life. And now this! Great!"
Pooja sat next to Aditya, and she placed her hand on his shoulder, "Adi, I know how much that fateful encounter is a sensitive incident in your life. The impact it had on you is something deep. I get it. But, Yash's death was not just an incident in her life, Adi. Yash was literally Zoya's life. Zoya didn't have an identity of her own only, except that she was Yash's girlfriend. It's a miracle and her good luck, that she was able to find love in you again. But that scar, which Yash's death left behind in her life, will always remain in her heart, Adi. So, when you bring Yash's death as a tool to make her understand your predicament, imagine what she would go through."
Aditya lifted his head from his clutches, as he uttered in a heartbroken tone, "What did I do...how could I tell something like this..."
"Now, just go and apologize to her, Bhai! That's all you can do, and should do now. Please meet her...she looks too hurt..." Arjun said in a worried tone, while Aditya stood up and walked out of his apartment in a huff.
He reached Zoya's apartment door and rang the bell, with a guilty face. When there was no response, he pushed the door knob and it simply opened. He walked inside and looked around for Zoya. When she wasn't there, with a worried look, he then walked to her bedroom, and pushed open the door.
He looked at her sitting in the bed, with her head buried in between her knees. He looked down at the floor, and saw her sandals, bag and things scattered all around. With a gulp down his throat, he closed the door behind him and walked towards her.
He sat opposite her in the bed, and looked at her still sitting in the posture. He felt horrible about himself for being the reason behind this disheveled self of hers. He took his hand above her head, while he stopped just an inch before he could touch her head. He pulled back his hand, and looked down, as he placed his hand on her feet on the bed.
Zoya flinched from her posture with his touch, while she slowly lifted her head and her reddish eyes fell on him.
Aditya's head was facing down, as he said in a broken tone, caressing her feet, "I am sorry...I am genuinely sorry Zoya. Please forgive me for what I said."
Zoya looked at him as a single drop of tear trickled down her cheek. Aditya looked up at her and said in a low tone, "You know in your heart...that I never meant to hurt you right? Still...like an idiot, I uttered such a...I am sorry, Zoya." Aditya said in an emotional tone, "Punish me however you want. But please don't punish me, by crying like this. I can't see you cry, Zoya. That too...because of me..."
Zoya looked at a teary eyed Aditya, and she looked down and said, "Okay. I won't cry and I will forgive you...on one condition..." Zoya said, sniffing her nose.
