The wind caressed Aditya and Zoya's faces, while Zoya's eyes were fixed on an emotional Aditya who seemed to struggle for words. She could clearly see that he was suppressing so much pain and emotions within him.

"You know Zoya..." Aditya's voice broke, "I have shot so many criminals in my career...I have never felt so guilty about it, mainly because they were all inhuman beasts in the disguise of humans, who had killed several people and harmed innocent lives. They indirectly asked for such a brutal end to their lives. But...but for the first time ever, I happened to shoot a guy who probably didn't deserve to die that way...He didn't...didn't deserve such a death...that too from my hands, Zoya."

Aditya looked at her, as he said emotionally, "Even today, that rainy night seems like a horrible nightmare. I still wish that I suddenly wake up one night and get to know that it was all a bad dream." He moved forward in the chair, and faced Zoya, as he said emotionally, "You know...till that day, I used to feel so elated and proud about my aim and accurate targets. People in my department...they say that Aditya Hooda and his target are synonymous to Arjuna and the bird's eye. Not one aim I have missed...never!"

Aditya had a light smile, saying so, amidst that pain, and Zoya too smiled at him emotionally, while she recalled Aditya shooting that guy behind her, on a single shot, amidst that dense rain. That was seriously an attribute worth of a compliment.

"But..." Aditya sniffed his nose, "But that night, I wished that I missed my aim. I felt cursed to have such a skill with me that night...it was...one such moment in my life...when a boon in my life turned out to be a curse for me..."

Aditya closed his eyes, and stood up from the chair and walked towards the balcony rail, and clutched it hard.

"That crime scene was a secluded area where not much people roam around. I don't know...from where this guy suddenly popped up and came in between...my bullet and the other fellow. I aimed at that criminal only...but before I could even understand...everything was over. A guy plunged on the ground...who was not the guy I was about to shoot."

Zoya too stood up and walked towards him, as she listened to it with an abated breath, while Aditya pointed down at the balcony floor and said in tears, "He lied down there with some white flowers in his hand...which later became...red...with his...blood...I still can't forget...that face and that gruesome sight..."

Aditya closed his eyes as he banged the rail with his hand, while tears flowed down Zoya's cheeks uncontrollably. She didn't know why she was crying, or for whom she was crying, but her heart felt an enormous amount of pain on hearing about that tragedy. She felt a strange sense of empathy about that entire incident. The way Aditya described about that incident and that dead man, made her feel for that man, as if he happened to be someone so dearest to her.

"It was a huge mistake from my side, and I still don't know why it happened. But, trust me Zoya, there has not been a single day when I haven't felt guilty about this..." Aditya said looking at the far distance, "I even volunteered to take up the punishment for that crime, but my department didn't let me do that to save their reputation and flawless track record. They covered up that crime, and wanted me to abide by. So I decided to give up my job as a punishment; that job that I loved more than my life...that was all I could do..."

Aditya wiped his face, as he added, "I did everything to find out some clue about that person...his family, loved ones, wife, mother...someone. But I got nothing."

He turned and looked at Zoya emotionally, "I know meeting them is not going to make a difference. He won't come back alive...But at least...at least...I can plead them to punish me...or ask them to curse me to their heart's content...or even kill me...I would surrender myself at their feet..." Aditya plunged on the floor opposite Zoya, "...willing to accept any punishment..."
