JUGHEAD POV
It was Saturday night. Betty and I decided to just walk around the Plaza in Riverdale. It was quite crowded tonight and we saw people in all the restaurants and stores. But Betty...seemed out of it. She seemed very sad.
"Hey Baby, you ok? Are you worried about your college applications?" I asked.
"No...I'm not going to college." Betty whispered. That was very shocking. For as smart and as much as she loves school, you'd think she'd wanna go to college.
"But I thought-"
"You thought wrong." Betty said. We walked into an abandoned alley and walked slowly through it.
"Are you gonna take a year off? Go on a mission trip?" I asked hoping for a different response.
"No." Betty shook her head. We stopped walking and we just stood in front of each other. I shrugged and Betty's eyes filled with tears. She looked like she was gonna have a mental breakdown.
"Then what are you gonna do?" I asked.
"Jughead...I'm sick."
"Let me take you home-"
"No, I'm sick! I have Leukemia." Betty sighed. I couldn't believe the words that just came out of her mouth.
"If this is a prank, Betts...it's not that funny." I gritted my teeth. I wanted it to be a prank so bad. A few tears fell down her face and she was trying to hold back all of her emotions.
"I found out a couple years ago and I stopped responding to treatment."
"Why didn't you tell me?"
"The doctors said that I should live life normally. I didn't want anyone to be odd around me-"
"Including me?!" I shouted.
"Especially you!" Betty cried. "I was getting along fine! I accepted my fate and then you walk into my life! I can't have a reason to be angry with God." Betty said breaking into sobs. She ran away from me and I just stood there. Betty has cancer...she's dying. As much as I hated this, I know someone who can help.
