JUGHEAD POV
"Donny! You told me you'd stop spending money so we could move to London." Cheryl crossed arms while pretending to be Penelope. The school was going really well. I remembered all my lines and it was amazing.
"I'm not gonna sit on my keester. I need to make all the money so the other gangsters get nothin. Trust me, it's better." I said. Cheryl scoffed and walked away from me.
"That's it, Donny! We are through! I hope you drown in your money and filth." She scoffed. Betty walked in with a large cloak over herself. I could only see a few of Betty's curls coming out of the front of the cloak but that was it. "You must me Sandra. Here's some advice for you. Stay away from Donny. He's nothing but trouble with loose dreams." Cheryl sassed and walked off the stage. All the extras cleared off the stage as well and it was just Betty and I. I sat down at one of the tables.
"I'm not asking for forgiveness. My past is cruel, Sandy." I said. Betty took off the cloak and set it on the chair. Her hair was curled, her makeup was actually done, and she had a long blue dress. She looked to different. She sat down at the table with me and I was just lost for words. "When you got a job at my club...it wasn't a coincidence."
"Nothing is a coincidence is the modern world."
"You look so familiar. Like a maiden I've seen once but haven't met. Like you've been in my dreams."
"Tell me about this dream girl." Betty weakly smiled. This was the moment I forgot my lines. Why this moment? It was the last scene of the play and I messed up on my lines! I did the only logical thing...a rewrite.
"I can't remember. But all I know...is that you're so beautiful. Can you sing for me?" I asked. Betty nodded and stood up. The music started playing and she was singing.
"There's a sing that's inside
Of my soul
It's the one that I've tried to write
Over and over again
I'm awake in the infinite cold
But you sing to me over and over and over again
So I lay my head back down
And I lift my hands and pray
To be only yours I pray
To be only yours
I know now you're my only hope
Sing to me the song of the stars
Of your galaxy dancing and laughing and laughing again
When it feels like my dreams are so far
Sing to me of the plans
That you have for me over again
So I lay my head back down
And I lift my hands and pray
To be only yours I pray
To be only yours I know now you're my only hope
I give you my destiny
I'm giving you all of me
I want your symphony
Singing in all that I am
At the top of my lungs
I'm giving it my all
So I lay my head back down
And I lift my hands and pray
To be only yours I pray
To be only yours I pray
To be only yours I know now you're my only hope"(John Foreman and Mandy Moore 2002).Betty sat back down at the table and I looked at her. I was definitely going to get in trouble for it. I needed to do another rewrite. I leaned in and I kissed her. I pulled away and she was in shock. The crowd roared and clapped. The curtain closed and Betty immediately stood up and ran off. I went backstage and changed into my old clothes. I got off the stage and saw people with their families and were walking out of the auditorium.
"Jughead! You looked so charming!" Mom smiled and kissed my cheek.
"Thanks, but stop." I said.
"Don't be out too late." Mom smirked and left the auditorium. I saw Betty and her father walking out of the auditorium and I was gonna go talk to them. That was until Kevin Keller came up to me.
"Good job tonight. Also, great rewrites! You're acting didn't suck and I'm impressed. Have a good life." Kevin smiled.
"You too." I nodded. Kevin walked away and I walked out of the auditorium. I didn't see Betty at all. Someone tapped me on the shoulder and I turned around. Why was he here? He never comes around for anything. It was my father.
"Nice performance, Jug." Dad nodded. I crossed my arms.
"What are you doing here?"
"Your mother called me and told me that you had a play. I wanted to come see you perform. Maybe we could go to Pops?" Dad asked.
"I'm not hungry." I said and walked away from him. I had to intention of talking to a man who doesn't care about me and left me for another woman.
"Jughead, don't walk away!" I rolled my eyes and yelled back to him.
"You taught me how."
