chapter 35 - at the airport

"are you ready sweetie?" my mom asked as she walked into my room

i looked up and smiled. "yeah. i'm ready" i said as i grabbed my luggage and carried it downstairs

we're all now ready to visit our cousins. i decided to wear sweatpants, aaron's obey sweater, and my grey uggs for the plane ride.

i strolled my bag towards the car and placed it in back of the trunk.

i got in the car and sat next to katty. who is sitting in her car seat.

"hey katty lack. are you excited to meet your cousins?" i asked her as i buckled up my seatbelt

"yesh! mommy said they have a girl my age!" she exclamied and smiled widely

"aww. you can have playdates with her everyday!" i said and kissed her forehead

"yeah!" she said and smiled at me

-at the airport-

we finally reached the airport. and we all decided to just stay at our gate and wait till our plane arrives.

"why are we visiting our cousins?" i asked as i sat down on a chair that was next to my mom

"because your aunt jennifer is my closest sister. she was my very first best friend. our bond was un-breakable" my mom said and smiled

"but what happened?" i asked her

"ever since i told her i was moving out of state to live with your father. she got upset because she thought i didn't want to live with her anymore. which wasn't true" she said

"are you guys not talking still?" i asked her

"after i moved in with your father. she called me and apologized. she said that she's going to miss me, and that it'll be hard for her because she was stuck with our brother. you uncle ken" my mom said and chuckled

"yeah. uncle ken did scare me a little when i was younger" i said and shook my head

"you were really scared of him alright" my mom said and chuckled

"mommy! can i buy candy!" katty screamed and pointed to the vending machine that wa in front of us

"alright. do you want anything lexi?" my mom asked me as she held onto katty's hand

"yeah.. um, i'll get gummy worms" i said

my mom chuckled and then replied. "you're favorite. i thought you didn't like that anymore" my mom said

"are you kidding me?! i'm in love with gummy worms!" i exclaimed

"haha. alright. i'll be right back" she said and started walking towards the machine

i stared to look around. i noticed that my dad wasn't here.

i stood up andstarted looking around.

he wasn't here.

i walked to the boys restroom.

maybe he's in here..

i thought to myself

i stepped closer but didn't go inside.

"dad?! are you in here??" i yelled

no answer.

"dad?!" i yelled again

i sighed and then turned around.

there he was.. my dad. he was talking to a guy.

i sighed in relief.

phew. i thought he ran off.

i started walking towards him.

but then stopped when i saw him drop to the ground.

"dad!"
