chapter 44 - she's okay

-aaron's p.o.v-

one we reached the hospital, me and my mom quickly asked for lexi's room.

when the nurse told us what room, i quickly nodded and then began sprinting towards her room.

once i reached her room, i opened the door quietly. but then when i opened it wide, i saw another boy in there crying.

"who are you?" i asked him

his gaze went from lexi, to me as soon as i asked who he was.

"i'm james. her cousin" he said

i nodded and then began walking towards her bed.

"is she going to be okay?" i asked him as i sat next to him

"she's going to be fine. she's just in a coma. but besides that, she's fine" james said and wiped his tears away

just the sight of lexi lying there in a coma, with a lot of tubes connected her, broke my heart. it even brought tears to my eyes.

call me a 'soft guy' or whatever. but this is my girlfriend we're talking about. she attempted suicide for a reason, and i want to know why.

"do you know why she attempted?" i asked james not removing my eyes at lexi

"her father died last week from a heart attack. she did this from depression" james replied

i couldn't hold it in anymore. the tears that were swelling in my eyes began to flow down freely on my cheeks

"james sweetie. we gotta go" a lady said as she walked through the door

me amd james turned around and i saw lexi's mom

"can i stay?" james asked

"i'm sorry hon. but you can" lexi's mom replied and frowned

james sighes before he dtood up and began walking towards the door.

before  he walked out, he looked back to lexi and then exited the room

"oh hi aaron. i didn't see you there" mrs. marie said

"hi mrs. marie. do you know how long lexi will stay in a coma?" i asked her

"yes, the doctor said about 3 to 4 weeks" she said

"alright, thank you" i said and smiled to her

"do you need a place to stay? my sister won't mind adding 2 more people in the house" she asked nicely

"no thank you mrs. marie. my mother and i are staying at a hotel closest to the hospital, so we can get here faster" i told her

"alright. well if you need anything. don''t hesitate to contact me" she said and smiled before walking out the door

i let out a sigh of relief when she got out the door.

she's okay. lexi's okay.

i said to myself and smiled while tears of joy were streaming down my face.
