chapter 37 - meeting the cousin at mcdonald's

"mom. wake up. we're about to land" i shook her lightly. my voice was beginning to break a little because i've been crying throught the whole plane ride.

katty didn't know what was going on. so everytime she asked me where was my dad, i would say "he's not going to come with vacation with us"

yeah it's mean to lie to a kid about their parents. but she's still so young, and won't understand any of it.

right now katty is just coloring in her little pony coloring book.

"come on mom. the plane is landing in about 5 minutes" i said and shook her again

i heard her sigh and then she finally sighed.

"are you alright sweetie?" my mom asked

my mom looked like a mess. her hair was everywhere. her makeup was all over her face. her eyes were bloodshot red. and her nose was probaby redder than roodalf's own (idk how to spell the deer's name 😂)

but who could blame her? we just lost somebody who we truly adored, and loved. losing a father isn't easy.

"i should be asking you the same thing" i said

"i'm not fine at all. your father means everything to me. i just can't believe he's gone. he's actually gone" my mom said and made a tear roll down her cheek

"it's going to be fine mom. we're going to be fine. we're going to go through this somehow. we're gonna get through it like a family" i said and embraced her into a hug. i took her hand and squeezed it

my aunt and uncle is now heading over to the airport to pick us up.

"do you want anything mom?" i asked her

she shook her head 'no'

"come on mom. you haven't eaten anything through the whole plane ride. you need to eat something" i said and sat next to her

she sighed before replying. "alright.. i guess i could have a bag of chips" she said

"just a bag of chips?" i asked her

"well yeah.. you did ask what i wanted" my mom said and looked at the ground

"mom.... please.. you gotta eat more than just a bag of chips. i'll buy us mcdonald's. it's just right across from here" i said and pointed to the mini mcdonal's restaurant across the street

"okay... but be careful" she said

"don't worry mom. i'll be fine" i said amd smiled at her, assuring that i will be fine.

i took a glance at katty and see her sleeping peacefully on my mom's lap.

-at mcdonald's-

"hi. i'd like 5 McChickens. a kids meal. big mac. and 3 water bottles" i told the cashier

he nodded and then repeated my order.

"alright. could i have your name so we could call it out and know that it's yours?" he asked

"yeah.. my name's lexi" i told him

he nodded and then wrote my name on the paper. after writing my name, he gave it to a girl and the girl took it.

before handing me my reciept. he stopped.

i looked at him with confusion.

"lexi?" he asked and furrowed his brws

"uhh, yeah? do i know you?" i asked and raised a brow at him as i folded my arms

"lexi.. as in... lexi marie?" he asked

"yeah?" i said

"hey! um... i'm your cousin. jeric. i could tell you just landed" he said and handed me a handshake
