chapter 9 - aaron is being nice?!

i got up my seat and began running towards the bathroom

"lexi! come on! hold on!" i heard shayla running for me. but i just ran faster and faster as i heard her footsteps become closer and louder

"lexi' come on" i heard someone say and then pulled my back by grabbing my arm

i then stopped to face the person. aaron.

"aaron" i breathed out and made the tears fall down my face

"oh lexi. come here" he said and brought me into a bear hug

"you're okay now. i'm not letting anyone hurt you anymore" he said in between the hug

-at the end of school-

"i'll be fine shayla" i told her the 100th time so that she could believe that i would be fine

"no. you broke down in class" shayla said and began pulling me again

"no. shayla, i have to finish the project with aaron" i said and took my arm back

shayla sighed. "okay. stay safe. i love you. call me if anythig happens" shayla said and hugged me

"you too! and i will" i said before walking out the school doors to meet aaron. who was leaning against a tree using his phone

i walked up to him, and his gaze from his phone, went up to me as soon as i approached him.

"hey. are you okay?" aaron asked

i smiled at him. "i'm fine. thank you" i replied and followed him to kris' car

i got in and sat in the back.

"why is she riding with us?" kris asked and started the car

"we have a project to finish. and she needed someone today" aaron said

"i'm glad you stook up for her bro" kris said and patted his shoulder

-at aaron's house-

as i got in aaron's room, i placed my bag down next to the door.

i sat down lightly and admired aaron's room.

i got distracted when i heard the door open, then close.

as aaron was looking through some papers, i began saying.

"thank you" i said and he stopped to look at me

"for what?" he questions and sat next to me

"thank you for standing up for me at class today. you didn't have to do that you know" i said and looked down to my fingers

"but i wanted to. i want to become a better person. i didn't want to stay as the bad boy forever" aaron said

"why did you stand up for me?" i asked him

"i was tired of people bullying you. what they did wasn't really nice" he said

"but you bullied me too" i said and looked at him

aaron sighed. "the past is the past lexi. can't you forgive me?" he asked me

"i don't know aaron. you did hurt me before. and you were one of those bullies" i said

"i can't believe i'm saying this. but i'm sorry. i really am. i got to know you. and you seemed like a cool person to hang with. i'm sorry" he apologized again

"you can't just assume just because you did one thing to help me, and apologize for your mistakes, that i could trust you just like that" i said and snapped my fingers

"you HAVE to earn my trust" i said

"how will i do that?" aaron asked

"i don't know. that's a question that you're supposed to answer" i told him

"fine. i'll come up with something eventually" aaron said and did his smirk

"it's getting late. i don't want your parents worrying about you and thinking you got kidnapped" aaron said and got up

"we didn't even do our project" i said and followed behind him as i grabbed my backpack

"i knew you wanted to talk about what happened in class. so i used our project to get you to talk to me" aaron said and opened the car door for me

wow... aaron is actually being nice to me
