ROANNA’S POV

 

“Ate Roanna.” Bati ni Dom pagdating niya sa resto namin. I asked him to meet up with me. I know he’s the guy, Kath’s with now. Or not.

“Hi Dom. Sit down.” I told him.

I’ve met him when he was with my brother nung bago palang kami sa Cali. Lumipad kami pa-US para makalayo sa kapahamakan dito sa Pinas. At nakilala siya ng kapatid ko nun pagkadating palang namin sa US. They became friends.

“About Kath.” I started.

“What about her?” Tanong agad niya.

Hindi na ko nagpaligoy ligoy pa. “Are you and Kath together?”

“No. Not yet.” Sabi niya. “Why do you wanna know?”

“Do you know about her ex?” I asked him ignoring his question.

“Yes. The guy who broke her heart after their sixth monthsary. I know the story. Wait. Why are we having this conversation?” Takang tanong niya.

“Her ex. Is my brother. DJ.” I told him.

I saw his jaw clenched. “So siya pala ang nanakit kay Kath. How could he? She was special. Far way special. She’s sweet. Kind. Friendly. Loving. Paano naatim ni DJ na saktan si Kath? At bakit mo to sinasabi sakin?” I see anger in his eyes.

Ofcourse, he’s mad. Mahal neto si Kath. Alam ko yun.

 

“May mga natatanggap kaming death threats, not just us but also concerning the people we love. Natakot kaming lahat para kay Kath. Ayaw naming madamay si Kath sa mga nangyayari kaya kinailangan niyang gawin ang isang bagay na halos ikamatay niya. Breaking Kath’s heart was the death of him.”

“Anak. You have to make a move.” Sabi ni Mommy kay DJ.

 

“Ma. I cant do this. Hindi ko kayang hiwalayan si Kath. I cant hurt her.” Sabi ni DJ na naluluha na.

 

“You know how much we love Kath. Mahal namin siya at gusto namin siya para sayo. She’s a very nice lady. Simple, funny, beautiful inside and out. But in order to protect her, you must do it. Kahit mahirap anak, kailangan mo siyang hiwalayan. Pansamantala lang naman eh. Pagnatrack na yung nagpapadala ng death threats, at naipakulong na, you can always go back to her. We wont stop you. But at this moment, this is the right thing to do.” Mahabang paliwanag ni Mommy.

 

May tumulong luha sa mata ko. Im hurting for my brother. Alam kong mahal niya si Kath. I can see that in his eyes.

 

“Can you give me a week? Or even just a day? I cant break her heart now. Not now.” Sabi ni DJ. Ang alam ko sixth monthsary nila kahapon. Maybe that was the reason why he dont want to break up with her just now.
