mike & el
halloween: part 2After completing what could definitely be considered a successful hour and a half of trick-or-treating, they had all found themselves back at Mike's.
Dustin and Lucas were out in the backyard getting the bonfire all ready for the night. They also had to bring the pumpkins out to carve.
It was a lot of work, but they had had enough of Mike and El's constant displays of affection for now. They needed a break, no matter how much physical labor they had to do to get it.
Speaking of Mike and El, the two were currently in Mike's basement, sorting through all the treats they had gotten.
"Oh! Found another pack!" El shouted, tossing it over to Mike. He caught it and added it to the pile with the rest of them. El rummaged around in her bag a little more, not finding any more of the specific candy. "I think that's all I have."
She set her bag down on the table, then went over to where Mike was sitting on the couch, holding the new bag they had been filling up.
"I hope your species still likes M&M's, because we have enough here to last us until next Halloween!" He grinned, giving her a better look into the bag, full of their favorite treat.
They grabbed one of the bigger packs, opening it up to share.
"Did you get this much candy last Halloween?" El asked, while tossing a few pieces of the color coated chocolate in her mouth.
Mike thought back to last year, but all he could remember was missing El and feeling overwhelmed with sadness.
"I honestly don't remember, last Halloween wasn't too much fun for me." He told his girlfriend, with a sad smile.
El's face now matched his, remembering how down he was when he had called her that night. It wasn't easy for her to see, so she knew it had to have been hard for him and she really wished that she wouldn't have brought it up.
"You looked cute in your costume though." She sweetly told him, in hopes to lighten the mood.
A more genuine smile did appear on his face this time and she was hoping it would stay there.
"Who ya gonna call?" El softly sang, finally getting a laugh out of him.
"You know, one lady thought we were exterminators."
El wished she knew what that was, because it seemed to be pretty funny to him. "What's that?"
"Someone who kills bugs for a living." He said, instantly making her nose scrunch up.
"Who would kill bugs for a living?" She cringed, the thought too repulsive for her to comprehend.
Mike only shrugged in response, not really understanding that himself.
"This Halloween has been better though, right?" She asked, hoping that it had been. If not, then she still had a little time to turn it all around.
"El, this has already been the best Halloween of my life." He assured her with a loving smile. "All thanks to you."
