mike & el

El was sitting at the kitchen table, still in her cozy pajamas as she stuffed her face with french toast that Jonathan had made for her.

She was eating her breakfast rather quickly, which explains why the front of her shirt was now covered with powdered sugar. She didn't seem to notice nor did she mind, not when the excitement coursing through her veins had completely taken over her whole body.

Mike and Nancy were coming to visit for the weekend and El had been counting down the hours since she went to bed the night before. They wouldn't be arriving until nearly nighttime, meaning she had to suffer through this agonizing waiting all day long.

It was only 10 o'clock and she was already miserable.

She just wants to see Mike. She misses him so much that it quite literally hurts her heart, always making her want to cry until she feels like she has no tears left in her.

It had been nearly a month since she'd last gotten to see him and that was far too long. That's far too long to go without seeing Mike, without kissing Mike, without getting to bask in the comfort of Mike's amazing hugs.

She really misses his hugs.

She misses the sound of his voice, the way he talks so softly to her. She misses the way he makes her feel inside, all warm and tingly. She misses the way he looks at her, the way that makes her so feel weak in the knees she could collapse at any second. She misses the way he holds her hand, fingers laced through hers so tight, as if he never wanted to let her go. God, she even misses the way he walks.

El let out a longing sigh, shoving her chin in the palm of her hand as she completely let herself get lost in a beautiful daydream.

A beautiful daydream of Mike and only Mike.

Mike and his kind smile, how even the smallest hint of it upon his perfect lips was enough to brighten her whole day. One smile from him and she felt as if she could just melt into a puddle right there in front of him.

Mike and his beautiful brown eyes, eyes she felt she could just drown in the second she looked into them. There was always this sort of sparkle in them too, something that Nancy had told her was only there when she was around.

El was certain she had the same sparkle in her eyes when he was around too.

She figured maybe that's what happens when you love someone. Maybe it's the love you feel for them shining through, because El certainly has a lot of it.

Oh, how she loves Mike Wheeler. She loves him so much it absolutely consumes her.

She never knew it was possible to feel this strongly for a person, but ever since she laid eyes on him that night in the pouring down rain, she quickly realized just how possible it was.

Mike is the best person she has ever met and the most perfect boyfriend she could've ever asked for. He's so incredibly beautiful, inside and out. She swears his heart is bigger than anyone else's because the way he loves and cares for her is too good to be true.

He once told her that she was the most important thing to him in the world and he definitely treats her as such.

She loves him so much and that only makes her want to be with him all the time. She just wants to be able to see him everyday, to hold his hand, to kiss him while listening to their favorite songs on her radio. She wants to make him smile, to make him laugh, to make him feel as loved as he never ceases to makes her feel.

She wants to be with her boyfriend, but now that she lives here, she can't do that— a fact that never fails to ruin her days.

Soon though, she will have him here and even if it's only for a few days, she's certainly going to take advantage of the time she's been given with him.

God, she really didn't want to wait for tonight. She just wanted him there now.

"El?"

Why couldn't he be here already?

"El!"

At the sudden sound of her name being spoken, El snapped right out of her thoughts.

"Huh?"

"You okay over there?" Joyce asked from across the kitchen, noticing how out of it she looked.

El nodded, sending her a reassuring smile. "Just daydreamin', sorry."

"Hm, I bet I could never guess who you were daydreamin' about." Joyce teased, with a very knowing grin on her face.

"Definitely not." El laughed softly, before shoving another piece of french toast in her mouth.

"Don't worry honey, he'll be here soon!" Joyce assured her, before disappearing off down the hallway, leaving El to herself again.

Soon.

She still hates that word.

El quickly glanced over at the clock, sighing as she read over the numbers again. Only a couple of minutes had passed since she last looked at it.

Time wasn't moving fast enough, but she was going to wait as patiently as she possibly could for Mike to finally be here, back in her arms, right where he belongs.
