mike & el

Mike's eyes slowly fluttered open as he regained consciousness. He found himself lying on the concrete, staring at the outside of Starcourt.

He had no clue how he'd gotten out there. The last thing he remembers was being thrown against a wall by a flayed Billy.

That's all he can remember and now he's here, head pounding harder than ever before as he wondered what the hell happened while he was knocked out.

He slowly stood from the ground, now focused on scanning the area around him. There was only one person his eyes were searching for and she was nowhere to be found.

"Guys, where's El??" Mike shouted, getting the attention of everyone else who hadn't noticed him wake up. They all came rushing over, asking how he was feeling or if he was okay, but none of them had answered his question.

"Where is she?" He repeated, this time demanding an answer.

"Mike, we didn't see her in there." Steve sighed, while avoiding making eye contact with him, just as everyone else was doing.

Mike eyes widened in shock as Steve's words sank in.

"Are you kidding me right now? Did you guys even look around for her?"

Again, he got no answer from anyone, which told him exactly he needed to know.

"So let me get this straight, you guys just took one look around the place, couldn't find her and decided to leave her in there??" He shook his head in utter disbelief, before turning around and heading straight toward the entrance of the mall.

"Mike! You can't go back in there!" Nancy insisted, grabbing onto his arm in attempt to stop him. "The whole place looks like it's about to collapse!"

"Yeah and the girl that I love is still in there! So I'm going in and there's nothing you can do to stop me!" Mike yelled, instantly yanking his arm from her grip and storming away.

He walked right back into the mall and he wasn't walking back out of it unless his girl was with him.

"El!"

"El, where are you? Can you hear me!"

He looked around as he continued to call out for her, but neither found or heard anything.

He wasn't giving up though, not at all. Not even if the ceilings above him did start to cave in, not even if the small fire already burning nearby spread further. Nothing was going to stop him from finding her.

He continued searching areas of the mall, cautiously watching out for anything falling from above him. He was already having to watch where he was stepping, so he really had to be on high alert if he wanted to make it out of here without getting crushed.

"El!"

"El, are you here! Can you hear me!"

"El!"

"Mike!"

He froze, spinning around as he tried to pinpoint the exactly direction her voice had come from.

"Mike! I'm over here!" He heard her frantic voice call out once more, allowing him to get a pretty good idea of where she was. He took off running toward her screams, dodging the fallen debris along the way.

His eyes covered every inch of the space around him, until he finally spotted her. She was lying on the ground, now propped up on her elbows. She looked to be okay, except for the decent sized beam lying across her legs.
