mike & elMike was frozen, unable to believe that El had just 'dumped his ass.'
He certainly didn't expect to hear her say those words nor did he enjoy hearing them.
As he watched her stomp away, he couldn't help but feel like his heart had been ripped in half.
El just broke up with him. The girl that he cares about more than anything just broke up with him.
Somehow, in the midst of his shock, he had gotten closer to the bus she had gotten on, with Lucas and Will following along with him.
Just as the bus started to move though, Mike was snapped out of his motionless state.
He couldn't just let her go.
He didn't wait 353 days to have her back, just to lose her over a lie that he didn't even want to tell.
Before he knew it, his feet were moving to get him to the door of that bus. Lucas and Will remained still, unaware of what exactly he was planning to do, but neither were surprised by his actions.
He was always like this when it came to El.
Mike quickly reached the door, instantly banging on the glass with his fists. He could see the man driving the bus start to freak out once he noticed his presence.
Thankfully, the bus came to a jerking stop and Mike wasted no time getting on it.
"Hey kid! What do you think you're doing?? You can't get near a moving bus like that!" The man shouted furiously.
Mike gave the man a glance, but focused his attention on searching for El. "I'm so sorry about that sir, I just need to-"
He stopped his explanation once he spotted her. She was staring at him, wide eyed and full of confusion.
Mike rushed down the aisle to get to her.
"Mike? What are you doing?" El was quick to ask, but she didn't get an answer. He only grabbed her hand and nodded his head toward the door, suggesting she go with him.
"Come on!"
El didn't hesitate to get up out of her seat, shoving her ice cream cone in Max's hand before following him.
She figured if he was actually stopping the bus and wanting her off this bad, it must be important.
"Mike?? What the hell!?" Max yelled, but he ignored her.
Once they'd gotten off the bus, Mike held on to her hand tighter, leading her over to an area outside of the mall that was more private. He didn't need anyone else interfering right now.
They were moving quickly to get there, causing Mike to be a bit out of breath when they finally stopped.
"Are you okay?" El asked, her concern written all over her face.
"Yeah, just... just give me a second." He spoke through his panting.
El nodded and her eyes never left him, wanting to make sure he was alright.
Once he was finally able to catch his breathe, the words he knew he needed to tell her came right out.
"El, I'm so sorry! You were right. I lied about Nana being sick, but I didn't want to! Hopper made me!"
Her brows furrowed in confusion. "Hopper made you lie?"
"Yes! I almost didn't listen to him, but he threatened to not let me see you anymore! I had no choice! I mean, I can't not see you!" He explained, his voice growing louder by the second.
El's eyes were glued to his, showing no sign of emotion, but then her gaze finally softened.
"Please don't dump me! I would never want to lie to you, I promise!" Mike went on, while El moved closer to stand in front of him.
"Mike, I know you wouldn't." She assured him, while taking his hands in hers again and holding them tightly.
Mike held hers just as tight, shyly glancing down at the ground. "So... are you still dumping me?"
El then let go of his hands and brought hers up to his cheeks, making one quick move to bring his face down to hers. She firmly planted her lips on his, catching him by surprise.
Despite the fact that they were in a public place, much different than the comfort of her bedroom, she didn't pull away too fast.
She let her lips linger on his, enjoying the feeling of what she cherishes so much.
"You can still be my boyfriend." She told him once she'd pulled away, making him sigh heavily in relief.
"Good, because that was the worst 45 seconds of my life!" He exclaimed, bringing a bright smile to El's face. "Oh and by the way, you look beautiful! I love the new look. I mean, I loved your look before too... I love all of your looks!"
"Thanks, Mike." She softly spoke, already feeling the slight flush that his compliments somehow always bring to her cheeks.
The two stared lovingly at one another, like they were making up for lost time together, until El remembered where exactly they were.
"Hey, let's go get some ice cream!"
"Didn't you just have ice cream?"
"Well yeah, but I wanna share some with my boyfriend!" She insisted cheerfully, then took his hand in hers and the two rushed off into the mall, feeling so incredibly happy that everything was perfect between them again.
