mike & el
part 2Saturday morning, 9 AM, and Mike was being interrupted from his wonderful sleep, to the annoying sound of the phone ringing. Who was calling him this early and why??
He grabbed the phone off the hook from his bedside table, stretching the cord as far as possible, so he didn't have to move from his comfortable position.
He made an undecipherable noise, letting the person on the other end know that he was there, half asleep, but still there.
"Let's do it."
"Do what?" He mumbled, still a bit disoriented, but really just having no clue what she was talking about.
"Let's get married!" El happily shouted through the phone.
His tired eyes shot open. "Are you serious?" Now he was awake.
"I'm serious! I thought about it and I'm ready, I'm sure of it! I want to marry you, Mike!"
"Okay, okay then let's do it!" He cheered through the wide smile on his face.
"The courthouse just opened, we can go right away!" El said, her voice full of anticipation.
This was crazy, just completely insane. Getting married out of the blue like this??? Crazy! Were they going to go through with it? Yes, yes they were.
"I'll be over soon! Please don't change your mind!!" Mike hopelessly begged, causing her to start laughing.
"I'm halfway done getting ready, no chance of that happening."
Mike jumped out of bed and hastily threw on his best dress clothes.
After all, they were only getting married in a courthouse. It wasn't some fancy wedding he had to dress for, even though that would surely come much later. El deserved a real wedding.
But for right now, the two just wanted to tie the knot and be husband and wife.
His family was still miles away, saving him from having to explain where he was going at this time of the day. Thank God.
He practically bolted out to his car, started the engine and raced like a jet all the way to El's house. He was surprised he didn't get stopped by the cops, because he was going well over the speed limit the entire drive over.
Mike knocked on El's front door, with his heart practically in his hand. It swung open, revealing Hopper, holding a steaming cup of coffee. He eyed Mike's attire first thing, his brows raising in obvious surprise.
"Why are you all dressed up this early in the morning?"
"El didn't tell you?" He figured El would tell her dad about their plans. Then again, Mike didn't tell his parents, but they weren't home so...
The thought of him asking for Hopper's blessing crossed his mind, panic beginning to flow through him. He probably should've asked, since that's a big deal, but it was too late for that now.
"Oh, I see. You're in on it too. You guys are getting married." He spoke, with a mocking tone. "Very funny." He stepped back to let Mike come inside, rolling his eyes at their games.
