Chapter 28 - Conflict

His hand is hovering above what I can understand as the launch button. I can feel sweat drop from my face while adrenaline floods my bloodstream. He grinned at me with this sinister look, like teasing death to me. Blake and Dr. Williams are behind me, still trying to process what is happening. I can see his hand approach the button, I have to do something!

'Say goodbye to them. While you still can!' he said and laughed hysterically after.

I close my eyes because of fear and charged forward. Dying is not an option for me right now, otherwise, this psychopath will really ruin my reputation on the whole world. I opened my eyes as I bump into him and tackled him down. I rose up and started punching him with all the force I have. However, I somehow feel weak. I don't punch as weak as this. What's going on?

'Get off me!' he shouted at me. His smile is replaced with anger. I ignored his demand and continued punching him. I am not about to let him get loose of my grip.

'I said get off!' he shouted once more. I noticed his hand went into his pocket and grabbed something out. Without another second to spare, I felt pushed off the ground and into the wall at the back. I felt a razor-sharp pain coming from my left arm. I take a look and saw blood. I am bleeding!

'You won't get away with this!' Dr. Williams shouted. The two are now in front of me. Blake rose up, hand in her pocket and pulled a gun out. She blasted out an extreme amount of force from this gun, I can say it's not a Gravity Gun. The force hit Jack V2 which knocked him onto the wall directly behind him. This gun is causing the room to shake like an earthquake. 

'Blake, stop!' I shouted with all my strength. I still feel weak for whatever reason. It doesn't seem that she heard my request or maybe she ignored me.

Out of nowhere, Jack V2 directed his gone to Blake's position and fired. This caused a battle of two opposing forces, which causes the room to shake more. 

'Drop your weapons and raise your hands up!' someone who entered the door said. I looked at the person's direction and saw five officers with their guns pointed at Blake. Blake notices this and took another gun with her other hand. She is wielding the Gravity Gun with her right hand and what seems to be a Thrust Gun with the other hand.

The three officers start to fire their guns but Blake managed to stop most of them. One bullet hit her knee directly which caused her to collapse from her stance. Jack V2 saw this as an opportunity to escape, but I'm not letting him go just yet.

Just beside me, I can see a tracking device with a map beside it. It's one of those trackers that you slap on someone without them knowing and the map can see where it is located. I motioned to Blake to throw me the Thrust Gun slowly. She slides it on the floor on to me.

Jack V2 is forming another portal to escape, but the process seems to be slow. The officers are not able to see him with their angle. Nevermind the officers. I have to get this on him. 

I can see him stand up from his sitting position and starts to enter the portal. No more time to waste. I threw the tracker up and blasted it on to Jack V2. I close my eyes in nervousness. As I opened my eyes, it hit! It doesn't seem like he felt the tracker connect to him like a parasite, I think he only felt the thrust.

He escaped, for now. We have another issue in our hands though. The officers approached Blake and Dr. Williams. I don't think Blake will be able to fight back in her condition but one thing is for sure, we have to get out of here.

I lift the three officers up using the Gravity Gun and threw them outside the room. The large bang of their collision with the floor is heard. I can hear more footsteps approach us. We don't have much time left to waste. I ran over to Blake and Dr. Williams. Blake is bleeding pretty badly but we can't solve that issue for now. We have to find a way to escape. 

'You're going to be alright, okay? Dr. Williams is a doctor and he can treat that after we get out of here.' I said to her, trying to make her calm down from all the fighting.

As I was looking at Blake's wound, a shining object from the corner where Jack V2 was is catching my attention. I ran over to it, my right hand holding my left arm, and took it. It seems to be something from the other dimension, perhaps something that Jack V2 used. I ran back to the two and saw Blake smile.

'This is our way of escape. I have to configure this out first. I need time.' she said. 

'I will hold these officers back.' I stood up and raised the Gravity Gun on the door's direction. I pulled up the floor, wall, and ceiling from the hallway and pulled it in, making a barricade in the process. 'Dr. Williams, you will have to reprogram that computer to launch on Jack V2's base.' I followed after.

Dr. Williams stood up and nodded. Their time of preparation completely resides on how much further I can hold back those officers. Not even after 2 minutes of waiting for them to finish, I can feel them destroying the debris I used to block them out. I can even hear small explosions. This entire place is hard to penetrate, which has now backfired on them.

'Are you guys almost done? I don't think this will hold on for too long.' I shouted at them. The officers are doing something from the outside which makes a loud noise. I think they are drilling it off.

'I'm done! I'm launching it out!' Dr. Williams said and clicked on the launch button. The nukes' launch can be heard from even in this secured room.

'I am almost there, just hang on!' Blake screamed in desperation. I can see her struggle with that thing. I don't blame her, I don't even know how that works.

'Stay quiet. Can you hear that?' Dr. Williams said. I stood there silent and there it is. I can hear a small tapping noise from the ceiling. I can even hear it even with the Gravity Gun's small noise. Me and Dr. Williams start to find where it's coming from when suddenly.

'Drop your weapons and surrender! You are surrounded.' an officer shouted as it emerged from the ceiling. So they were making a hole to ambush us, that banging outside the door was only a distraction.

'Done.' Blake whispered and I let go of the Gravity Gun's grip of the debris. I stared at this officer and walked slowly to Blake.

The three of us made eye contact. Me and Dr. Williams standing up while Blake was sitting down. We understood the plan. We were waiting there in silence.

'Now!' Blake shouted. 

The officer starts shooting at us but the bullets were blocked by the Gravity Gun. Out of nowhere, another hole from the ceiling appeared and two more officers went down and started shooting at us. The Thrust Gun was being used by Blake, making us open to attack. The portal formed and we were teleported out of there. However, one bullet seems to reach us before we were teleported away.

'Ugh-'
