Chapter 26 - Back On the Road Again

Naruto smiled as he looked at Kagome. It's been five months. Five months since he had started training Kagome near the mountains. He was happy to say that girl had shown growth in all of his teachings. She wasn't an expert, not by a long shot, but she had indeed grown. Her control was now a little beneath what he had seen of Kikyo and was far below that of Midoriko's, however, compared to what she had before, he had improved exponentially.

After the three month break, he had been observing the rest of Inu team in their personal training when Kagome was sent home. He didn't interfere to much seeing that they each had specialized in their own area. The only member he probably worked with extensively was Shippou. He found it disgraceful seeing a fox demon such as himself be so slow and not fast on his feet. Foxes were naturally cunning, swift, and mentally responsive. To see a fox demon not be these things were unacceptable.

Maybe it was because the was a fox demon himself (in a way) and that he felt a connect to the young kit. Whenever he trained with the kittling, he would always play games like hide and seek, and tag to try to build his stamina and to also work on his observation and tracking skills while also keeping him engaged. After all, the kit was only 7 years old.

There were moments when he would spar with Inuyasha and Sango since they were considered to be the heavy hitters on the team. Sango was actually pretty decent in combat. Although she wasn't nearly a match for him, he could understand why she was considered the best demon slayer of her village. Her battle prowness was definitely evident. However, Inuyasha was a different story. The hanyou was arrogant and pretentious. His swordsmanship was lacking and he never thought about things before he did them. While he had adequate battle prowness, the hanyou didn't possess the speed to counter fast attacks.

When they first started training, the only way to get him to do anything was beat him in battle. Once Inuyasha got his ass handed to him, he began to train along with the others although begrudgingly. He gave the hanyou a couple of tips here and there even though he was to prideful to ask for help. The red head would mentally chuckle at that seeing that it reminded him of a certain that was a part of his team.

As far as Miroku was concerned, he didn't really know what to do with him. Most of the time, he was either meditating or practicing incantations. Sometimes he would just watch the monk out curiosity than anything. He was always curious of the magic of this world. It was definitely something he wished to get a better understanding of.

When he wasn't helping Lady Kaede around the village, Naruto was outside the village, exploring. Feudal Japan was a little different from his time. He was a little saddened that there were no geisha houses out and about. They seemed to be like the whorehouses that were in the red-light districts of the Hidden Villages. He couldn't get a courtsean because he wasn't someone of high status in this era. What a pity.

In light of traveling and visiting different villages, Naruto also went to find out and learn about the different demons of this realm. While it was true that demons have their own realm in which he rules, there are other realms in which demons dwell. Like how there where demons that dwelled in the Elemental Nations although they were small in number. Kisame Hoshigaki was a perfect example of this.

In his travels, he had came across some very interesting demon although he did his best to avoid them. After all, he was not allowed to interfere in this domain considering his position. He could wipe out this entire world if he truly wanted to so he had to be careful how much power he showed and try to avoid too much attention. For now at least. He that when would have to battle Naraku, he would have to end him. If the half demon got what he wanted, he would destroy this world and could possibly reopen the portal between this world and the demon world - something he could not afford.
