Kohaku, once again, woke up with a groan. His head was throbbing and his ear rung. He had not long ago been given his memories and his mind had been working overtime to process them all and merge them with his recent memories. The experience was troublesome to say the least. He had been through a lot of emotional turmoil that was mentally and emotionally painful to deal with. The only thing that pushed him through was her. 'Sango....' he thought to himself as his eyebrows furrowed.
When his senses returned to him, the whiff of cooked meet hit his senses. He felt his stomach rumble loudly at scent. If he were up, he would have probably blushed in embarrassment. He heard a soft chuckle causing his eyes snap open. He quickly sat up and began to look around.
He was lying in a small clearing with a campfire already going. Looking at the sky, he could tell it was morning, about two hours past first light. He looked back at the campfire to see a 200 lb boar, skinned and roasting over the pit of fire. Around it, were long sticks with fish stacked upon them, cooking over the fire as well. Not far from the fire, was a bucket of water. The seasonings of the cooking meat flooded his nose as he continued to look around the camp.
To the far left of him, was a large neko sleeping beneath a tree. It had porcelain white fur with black fur around its eyes, ears, and paws. The cat looked oddly familiar as he continued to stare at it. 'Kirara?!' he thought inwardly as he recognized the nekomata. The sounds of light snoring, then, hit his ears, causing him to turn to the right.
Beside him, was a sleeping woman. She had long dark brown hair that was tied into a ponytail with bangs that framed the side of her face and her forehead. She was wearing a black and pink demon slayers uniform and had dry tear stains on her cheeks. 'Sango!' he inwardly exclaimed as he immediately recognized his sister. Before he could do or say anything to her, he heard a voice again.
"Good morning, Kohaku." a voice said.
Kohaku snapped his head toward the direction the voice was coming from, which were up in the trees. No long after, a figure descended down from a tall tree and landed gracefully on the ground. He was tall, standing at 6'3" and was wearing all black. On his back, was a black cloak and he had two swords sheathed at his hip. In his right hand, was a wooden bo staff and he wore a large conical hat that shadowed his face. The child recognized instantly, seeing that he was the same man who lead him to unlock his past memories.
"It's you!?" Kohaku exclaimed as he took in the man's features.
"True." the man said laced with amusement. He placed his staff against a tree before sitting beside the fire.
"Who are you? How did you do it? Why did you help me?" Kohaku began to fire off questions, one by one.
"Ma maa, one at a time, young one." the man chuckled in amusement.
"Who are you?" the boy asked.
"My name is Uzumaki Naruto." the man introduced. "I am a friend of your sister's."
"Why don't I recall you?" Kohaku said. "I have seen the others." the boy stated with curiosity. He could see that the man was human, however, something about his aura was odd.
"I'm a fairly recent addition." Naruto said.
Before he could ask anything else, his stomach released a loud roar, causing the boy to lightly blush in embarrassment. Naruto simply chuckled before standing up. He knew they child was hungry. He doubt that the hanyou fed him well enough. The kumo teme probably fed him just enough to sustain his body for usage. The growl of his stomach was not surprising at all. It was part of the reason why he provided such a large breakfast in the first place. The kid need to eat.
