Chapter 71 - Our Future

It's been almost six months since Kagome returned to Feudal Era and things seemed to have been going fairly well. Jinengi had been coming over to the village to help her learn how to make antidotes while Granny Kaede taught her how to perform exorcisms. She was finally able to catch up with everyone and learned that Shippo was training to become a full fox demon. She also learned that Koga and Ayame had gotten married, uniting the Northern and Eastern Yoro Wolf Tribes.

After much convincing and prodding from Lady Kaede, Lady Kikyo had finally taken up to training Kagome as a miko. The news of Kikyo's revival had greatly shocked Kagome. When she asked them how, they all said that they didn't know. Sango did say that she was 'delivered' in a package as a present from Naruto, which only brought more questions that no one could answer.

Speaking of the said red head, no had seen him since Naraku's death that night. She was still shocked that he was a demon the whole time. It was baffling how he hid it so well. She wondered when she would see him again. He was becoming an older brother figure to her, after all, and she rather enjoyed his company. There was never a dull moment with him.

As for Kohaku, he had began his training with Kirara to slay demons and help those who are endanger of demon. He visited the village sometime to visit his sister and the others. However, since they had a full house, he limited his time there so Sango could focus on his nieces and nephew. Rin had been living in the village with Kaede now, which came as a surprise to the miko-in-training.

She had expected Lord Sesshomaru to keep her. He did take her with him when he left, after all. But from what she heard from Inuyasha, Kaede suggested that girl needed to practice living human so that she could chose when the time comes. The demon lord frowned upon the notion, however, he had surprised them all when he wordlessly conceded to the elder miko's point and allowed Rin to reside in the village.

The miko giggled at that thought. It was the same day she had first addressed Sesshomaru as Big Brother. He seemed rather annoyed with the addressal while Inuyasha just gave her a deadpanned stare. When she asked him what was wrong, the hanyou told her that it sounded wrong. The shrugged her shoulders at that statement, saying that they were family now, causing the hanyou to further grimace.

"What are giggling about?" a voice came from behind her as she stood near the edge of the cliff, enjoying the view of the village in the late afternoon.

Kagome smiled at the sound of his voice. She turned around to met with the sight of the red clothed hanyou who had his hands crossed over his chest, hiding them within his coat. He walked up to her, uncrossing his harms and bringing him into his warm embrace. Kagome returned his sentiment, closing her eyes as she rested her head upon his chest. This was the best thing that happened to her since arrived.

A week after her return, Kagome and Inuyasha started dating. They didn't want to move too fast and wanted to take their time to get to know each other a little better. Kagome could honestly say that she enjoyed their time together. Sometimes he would take her out on picnics and other times, they would just walk through the fields or the forest and talk. After she would finish her miko training for the day, the hanyou would pull her away from everyone take her on a stroll. The miko had never felt more happy or content. She was finally with the man that captured her heart and he belonged to no else.
