Chapter 28 - Ambush

Naruto stood in the opening of a small clearing. He stood there in silence. The crisp wind blew into the clearing, blowing his cloak to the side. When he first sensed them, he knew that their enemies where planning on a double envelopment attack. He was able to pinpoint their location through the use of his sensing abilities. It was one of the oldest tactics in the book.

When he and Kirara split from the group, he had sent the fire cat to the left flank of the group while he took the right. He knew that left flank had lesser demon in their ranks which is why he had taken the right. He didn't want anything to happen to the cat even though he was confident that she could handle herself. Besides, the red head wanted to have his fun. Seeing that these were just underlings, he knew the fight would be over before it even began so he waited.

As the demon began to surround him and began to descend upon him, Naruto grinned like a madman under his mask. His red and blue eyes became storm cold and blazing furnace, and the wind began to pick up around him. When the were less than a foot away from him. In a split second, Naruto unsheathed both katana with on in each hand. The left katana was charged with blue fire while his right katana was charged with black and purple lightning.

'I've been waiting to try this out.' he thought to himself. "Jinton: Shadowless Flight" he whispered before he disappeared in a blur.

As he combined his natural high speed with his jinton, the red head moved at unparalleled speeds. As he moved faster than wind, creating miniature sonic booms, he annihilated the horde of demon in less than one minute.

The blonde stopped where he first stood. The fire and lightning that were in his blades had disappeared. He speedily sheathed his swords in one fluid motion. He turned around and inspected his work. The clearing was destroyed. The trees were sliced and the clearing was now littered with hundreds of dead demon, their blood painting the once green grass, black and red. He nodded in satisfaction with his work.

"Aoikaton: Great Fire Annihilation" he thought to himself as blue fire began to expel from his mouth before becoming a sea of flames.

The blue fire destroyed everything it destroyed. Blue fire was an Uzumaki clan kekkei genkei that was used by the Sandaime Uzukage, his grandfather. It was a type of fire that could only be rivaled by Amaterasu's black fire. While it didn't burn for days like black fire, it destroyed and burned anything it touched. Not even water could put this fire out.

Naruto watched as the whole field became consumed with fire, surrounding him. He watched the beautiful blue flames dance until he heard the sounds of fighting coming from his right, in the direction Kirara was fighting. At this, Naruto began to walk through the blue fire to make his way toward the fire cat. When he made his way through the sea of fire, he snapped his fingers as he walked away, making the blue fire cease and disappear. The clearing was now completely destroyed. A dark patch in the forest.

While the sage in him was telling him to fix the mess he had made, the logical part of his mind was telling him that now wasn't the time. Especially since a certain Taiyokai was watching the scene. Naruto smirked at that thought. 'I hope he enjoyed the show....' he thought with a grin as he began his journey to Kirara.

Sesshomaru watched his half-brother, the miko, the monk, and the demon slayer fight with refined skill. Although he wouldn't show it, it surprised him. What happened? Before, they were barely worthy to be considered cannon fodder. Now, the were fighting with tactic, precision, and were focused.

The monk seemed to display a certain amount of control over his wind tunnel and maintain it as he could not before. As far as speed and strength, the demon slayer was able to maintain both her swordsmanship and boomerang in battle whereas she would have just focused on using one weapon in battle before. Inuyasha seemed to be a little more patient and has a more solid fighting stance when he wields Tetsusgaia whereas he used to just swing it around like a child before. And the miko seemed to maintain a certain level of control of her power now.
