Chapter 64 - Inferno

Kagome gasped as the shards around her neck began to pulse. She was currently with Sesshomaru who was helping her stay alive through the after effects of battle. She had met with Sango and Kagura not long ago before they had to return to their aerial battle. She grew worried as the sky had became a deep shade of purple. Not long after, legions of demon began to tear through the clouds. She felt Sesshomaru grip the Tensaiga upon seeing this. She, too, gripped her bow, knowing that they would have to fight soon.

Suddenly, the shards around her neck burst out of the container and flew toward the distant battleground. Kagome was both shocked and confused. 'What in the hell is going on?' she thought to herself as the began to run in the direction they were flying to. She was stopped by a strong hand grabbing her. She turned to the owner of the hand saw it was Sesshomaru. It he was looking down at her with his usual cold gaze, his amber eyes appearing to be glaring at her.

"Leave them." Sesshomaru spoke.

"What do you mean, leave them?" Kagome said as her face contorted into a frown.

"This Sesshomaru's means what he said." Sesshomaru said. "Leave them."

Although Kagome was a little scared of the demon, her annoyance and anger began to cloud her fear as she glowered at him. "Let me go." Kagome demanded.

"You can not go. You will die if you get caught in their battle." Sesshomaru said as he narrowed his eyes at her. "This Sesshomaru will not allow you to go and fall to your death. Whatever has happened, I am sure that human friend of yours will deal with it."

"I said let me go." she said more forcefully.

Sesshomaru glared at her. Not many people lived to see the next day after defying one of his orders or after disrespecting him. Who did this human think she was, ordering him around in such a matter. Had his brother not taken a liking to the wench, he would have ended her life the moment she scowled at him. He continued to look down and glare at her before he harshly released her.

"Fine." he said with a slight growl of annoyance. He honestly did not have the patience for humans. "I can not believe my brother risked his life for such an insolent and foolish human."

This caused Kagome to narrow her own eyes. She may have been scared of him and knew that he could kill her in a blink of an eye. However, at this moment, all she felt was anger at his words. Before she respond, however, they both felt a spike in power that even made Sesshomaru pale. Kagome grew worried as she turned in the direction of the battle. It frightened her even. The thing that shocked her the most, however was that all of the power was yokai energy.

Kagura and Sango were current battling the incoming demon. Kagura was sending wave after wave of wind blades while Sango was throwing her Hiraikotsu and fighting demon with her sword. Kirara was trying her best to stay in flight while fighting the hordes of yokai that began to flood the sky. Things were becoming quite similar to the many situations that she had been in with the priest Midoriko. She only hoped that Kagome was okay and was determined to keep her human companion alive.

As Kagura sent another wave of wind blades, she paled as she felt an unfathomable spike in yokai energy that she had never felt before in her life. A was at least 10, 000 times great than any demon lord she has come across. And it was at least 100, 000 times than Naraku's own. The air became cold and shivers ran down her spine. The winds only whispered the words of death and the atmosphere was menacing. She turned to Sango and saw that the taijiya had paled as well. Even Kirara had stopped flying and her eyes widened.
