Chapter 73 - Celebration

Everyone looked at the trio with a  mixture of shock, confusion, surprise and weariness. Kagome shifted  uncomfortably as she walked towards the place of her wedding.  Her arms were hooked around Naruto's arm as he escorted her toward the 'aisle' that led to her fiancé. Since she didn't have a father and her family was no longer with her, Naruto offered to fill in the position, acting in their place to give her to her fiance. The miko almost teared up at offer and quickly nodded her head yes, earning a smile from both Naruto and Sango.

As they go closer, everyone began to part ways for them, the look of shock and confusion never leaving their faces. Even Inuyasha and Kaede were stomped by the red head's arrival. Naruto just smiled as he confidently escorted the nervous miko. This nervousness was quickly subdued when she felt a warm, comforting presence was over her. She turned to look up at Naruto see a small smile on his face.

"You'll be fine, Lady Kagome." Naruto whispered to her comfortingly as he walked her toward the tree. A smile etched its way upon her face as turned to look ahead at the 'altar'.

When the duo finally made to the tree, Kagome unhooked her hand from his arm. Naruto turned to her and gave her a small smile before kissing on her forehead. He then went to stand next to Miroku and Sango, the former still looking at him with surprise. Koga just stared at the red head while Ayame looked at him with confusion and interest. Momiji and Botan where just as confused. Based of his presence alone, they could tell that he was a demon. A strong one at that. There were about to attack when they saw the red head man escorting the miko down the isle. The action caught them by surprised and further confused the priestess. When they saw him smile at him and kiss her on the forehead, it made them curious and wonder why a high-ranked yokai like himself would do so.

Sesshomaru just raised an eyebrow. He haven't even sensed the red head's arrival. Watching him made him wonder how a demon of his caliber can be so affectionate toward human. When he imagined a king, a demon king at that, he imagined them much like himself. Cold and merciless. However, the man he was seeing now was different. As a matter of fact, he acted no different than the humans himself. Jaken just looked as shocked as ever.

The villagers present just looked at the red head with curiosity, unaware that he was a demon. Kikyo's eyes slightly widened at seeing him. She hadn't seen him since that night. The night where he had showed her his life and the very night she thought she died.

Pulling himself out of his shock, Inuyasha turned to face his soon-to-be wife. His breath caught in his throat upon looking at her. Beautiful couldn't describe the way see looked at the moment. The sun was set just enough to to grace her form. She seemed to glow with the sunlight and the flowers upon her head really helped enhance her beauty. He would have to thank Rin for that later.

Kagome blushed under his gaze. She loved the way he was looking at her. It was as if she were the only girl in the world. Not long after, Kaede began to go through the rites of marriage. The two lovers barely heard a word she said, getting lost in each other's gaze. After the miko blessed the marriage, Kagome and Inuyasha said their vows. It was a touching moment for everyone and a few tears were shed during this time.

Once they said their vows, Shippo came down the aisle carrying two wedding bands. After they received them, they placed each other's ring on their finger before sharing a cup of sake. Then, Kaede pronounced them as husband and wife, and gave Inuyasha the okay to kiss his bride. Almost everyone cheered as they sealed their marriage with a kiss.

Both of them smiled lovingly at each other as they pulled away. Inuyasha was suddenly glomped by Miroku, Koga, and some of the men of the village while Kagome was pulled away by Sango, Momiji, Botan, Ayame, and some of the village women. They all went separate directions, taking them to get prepared for the celebration that would happen tonight. Kaede chuckled as she watched both parties leave. 'Young love...' she said as she grabbed the things that she had brought with her.
