"Wow. . . You really weren't kidding when you said you wanted to look for rings. . ." Yeonjun said as him and Soobin examined one of the diamond rings that were displayed.
"Why would I joke around with this kind of stuff?" Soobin turned to Yeonjun, an amused smile spreading along his face.
Yeonjun shrugged. "I'm just saying. . ." He pouted. "You know how much Huening Kai is anticipating this kind of thing coming from you, but do you really think it's the right time?" Yeonjun touched Soobin's shoulder. "You just had your comeback, you'll be going on your first world tour for three months, and after that. . . You'll need a lot of rest."
Soobin flicked Yeonjun's hand away, rolling his shoulder back as a slight pain that had bothered him for a while came back, this time spreading down his spine. Stupid back pains.
"I'm fine." Soobin looked back at the rings. "Now, do you think I should buy him an opal or a diamond one?"
Yeonjun let out a laugh, shaking his head. "You're impossible."
~
"And then I went woosh! Down the slide!"
Huening Kai let out a laugh as he picked up the 4 year-old. "Really? It sounds like you had lots of fun then."
"Yeah. . ." She said, now letting out a yawn as she rested her head against Huening Kai's shoulder. Huening Kai let out a smile, this adorable, tiny toddler was named Soomin. She was the same little angel that he had met over six years ago back when he was an angel at the courts.
He knew that Soomin was on her journey to reincarnate when he left, but he certainly didn't expect her to be reincarnated to Soobin's family, let alone his mother. But despite the surprise and shock he had felt, he was grateful to have her around again, specially since he could always babysit her whenever Soobin's mother was too busy to look after her.
As Soomin groaned with sleepiness, Huening Kai rang the doorbell of her mother's apartment. After waiting for one or two minutes, Soomin's mother opened the door, her tired face lighting up with joy and delight at seeing Huening Kai and her daughter.
"Good evening Mrs. Kim~" Huening Kai sing sang, putting Soomin down as the toddler rubbed her eyes. It still felt weird to call her by the last name of Kim after calling her a Choi two years ago before her wedding with Seokjin's father.
Mrs. Kim couldn't help, but embrace him. "Oh Huening Kai, it's so good to see you." She said before turning to Soomin, picking her up and kissing her cheek lovingly before turning back to him. "Thanks for picking her up, I've been. . ." She let out a yawn, clearly exhausted as Huening Kai noticed the eye bags bellow her eyes. ". . . Very busy with work lately."
"Oh, that's never a problem." Huening Kai replied, feeling sympathy fill his chest. Mrs. Kim had been feeling stressed lately, mostly because of Soobin's complains of feeling slight pains here and there. He too had been feeling a little anxious and a little protective over Soobin lately, but his partner would always tell him not to worry.
"Would you like to stay for a bit? We could chat for a while like we used to, I'm sure Soomin would be happy for that too." Soomin suddenly opened her eyes to look at him. "Huening Kai's staying?"
Huening Kai's shoulders dropped. "Oh I'd love to, but Soobin will be back home in a few minutes."
Mrs. Kim nodded, giving him a tired a smile. "Ah. . . Well, it was great to see you, thanks for picking Soomin up again."
"Pfft, it's never a problem, see you tomorrow Mrs. Kim."
"Stay safe." She called back as Huening Kai walked away, waving at Soomin as the little girl called her good-byes too.
~
It was 6:30 when Huening Kai finally got home, he closed the door behind him, and let out a smile as he caught sight of Soobin, who was already walking towards him to greet him.
"There you are." Soobin said, already wrapping his arms around him. "I was about to call you."
Huening Kai looked up at him, his eyes shinning. "Did you and Yeonjun have fun?"
"Yeah, but it wasn't the same without you." Soobin replied, leaning down as he kissed Huening Kai.
Huening Kai kissed Soobin back, placing his hand on his cheek as the taller man wrapped his arms around Huening Kai's waist.
But their moment was cut short as Huening Kai's phone started to ring. Huening Kai pulled away, putting his hand on Soobin's chest as he reached for his phone.
"Jesus Christ, just let it ring for once."
Huening Kai shot him a glance. "Last time I listened to you, the phone call turned out to be poor Yeonjun who trying to find someone to talk to while having a freaking mental breakdown." He looked at his phone and widened his eyes with surprise as a number that hadn't contacted him in three years appeared. No way. He thought, moving away from Soobin as he answered the call. "H-Hello?"
"Oh, hi. . . Uh, is this. . . Huening Kai?" Huening Kai almost let out one of his excited dolphin noises at recognizing the voice. A voice that he had missed for three long years.
"Yes. . . Beomgyu. . . Is it you?" He asked, now feeling excitement filling his chest as he turned to Soobin.
". . . B-Beomgyu?" He asked, his eyes wide with surprise as Huening Kai nodded with excitement before walking away. "It's been so long since you last called, how's everything?!"
Soobin watched as Huening Kai walked away towards their room, squeaking with excitement as him and Beomgyu talked back and forth.
None of them had heard anything from Beomgyu ever sense he left the country three years ago and had blocked Yeonjun out of nowhere. . . Something that of course, had broken the older's heart deeply. He had asked Yeonjun about it, but the older would just shake his head and change the subject.
He suddenly started to feel a little sad for his friend. You see. . . Yeonjun never had it easy, specially when he was younger. At that time, Yeonjun used to be very reserved--He still is, but not as much-- and he didn't like to talk about his personal problems either. Yeonjun had always preferred to resolve his own problems on his own, which had almost damaged him.
After Beomgyu left them, Yeonjun completely changed and had shut himself away from the world. If it wasn't for Huening Kai and the words that had somehow comforted Yeonjun that day. . . Soobin was sure that Yeonjun wouldn't have been able to stay alive and well today.
But his mind trailed away from Yeonjun as Huening Kai came out the room, hopping up and down with a huge smile of excitement as he threw himself at Soobin. "You won't believe it!" Soobin tumbled backwards and fell down with Huening Kai on top him. "Beomgyu's coming back! He's coming back to Korea!"
