felix snapped his head in the direction of a quiet, tinkling bell in the alleyway next to him, stopping in his tracks immediately. an enormous smile erupted across his face as his gaze was met with large, green, gem-like glowing eyes.
"hello there," felix cooed at the well-groomed white cat, bending down and extending his arm in peace. the cat was timid; he'd seen it more than once and never gotten more than a meow when he approached it. his smile could have split his face in two when the feline timidly sniffed his hand, gently rubbing its soft face on his fingers. felix had never felt so loved by a creature in all his life. being accepted by the cats in his town made him absolutely euphoric. his day was made. this was his high point.
the streetlights beside the two fizzled on, frightening away the kitty. felix pouted, sad about his new friend running away from him so soon. he politely muttered a goodbye to the creature, happy that the animal trusted him enough to interact in such a wholesome way. he made sure to say a short prayer on the way home and asked God to watch over the cat and protect it from harm. the smile remained on felix's face, staining his expression for the rest of his walk.
felix often wondered what it would be like to have a four-legged friend running around his quiet, lonely home. his little parner-in-crime. he'd wholeheartedly adore a cat if he had one. it would likely hate felix because of how much love and affection he'd force upon the poor thing.
warmth hit his face as felix walked into his house; the smell of the dying plant in the corner concerning him slightly. he made a mental note to water jeremy on his way out tomorrow.
