Chapter Nine - Let Me Save You

-Blaine-

I walk to the mirror for the thousandth time. I don't know if I'm expecting something to change but every time I walk to the mirror, I look the same. The party started an hour ago yet I am still in my room trying to force myself to leave. For some strange reason, I feel so much anxiety about going to the party tonight. Something inside of me keeps thinking that something bad will happen.

A knock on the door pulls me out of my deep thought. I leave the bathroom and walk over to door slowly. I open it, I'm greeted by Charlotte. She looks pretty, her hair is curled loosely, and she's wearing minimal make-up with bright red lipstick.

"Don't tell me you have cold feet?" She asks stepping inside my room. Because she's wearing heels, she reaches to the height of my collar bone. "Something of the sorts," I say shoving my hands in my pocket. The suit is comfortable but not as comfortable as my sweatpants. "Is it Sam?" She asks looking up into my eyes. "No. It's me. I'm just being paranoid." I say running my hands through my hair. She nods, "Well, stop. Try to get out of your own head and come to enjoy the party."

She wraps her arm around mine and leads me out of the room. The floor is quiet and the lights are turned off, except the big chandelier dangling from the ceiling. Charlotte guides me downstairs and out of the house. We walk through the garden and down a short pebbled path until we reach a large dome looking building. It resembles a greenhouse. Outside is decorated with white Christmas lights. I can hear faint music coming inside. My palms get clammy as we near the entrance. When we step inside, I realize that's a ballroom with a glass ceiling. It's breathtaking.

"It used to be a regular ballroom but Aaron had it renovated and glamourized. They tore down the ceiling and he had them put tempered glass." Charlotte explains.  Aaron sounds like he was the life of the party.

"It's really beautiful," I say scanning the room. Along the right side of the ballroom, there are long tables with shavers, pitchers with drinks, and glass coolers with various types of Alcohol. Surrounding the center of the room, are white tables with beautiful flower centerpieces, plates, and utensils. The DJ is situated near the right side of the ballroom. I notice Jordan sitting at the most decorated table, alone. There are three additional chairs at the table. I raise an eyebrow in confusion.

"Oh, yeah. The chair to the right of Jordan is supposed to be for the Alpha's mate. The two chairs on the left are for the Beta and his mate."

I frown, two of those chairs won't be used tonight. They should have just omitted those extra chairs. They're kind of depressing to look at.

Jordan looks good, his hair is perfectly slicked down and his suit fits him like a glove. The expression on his face doesn't seem very festive. He looks like he doesn't want to be here. Join the club.

"I'm going to get us some drinks, go mingle!" She cheers before trotting away. I scan the room again for Sam and spot him standing next to Helena, a brown-haired guy, and a blond-haired girl. He looks amazing. Grey suits him well. I walk towards them and when Helena sees me, a huge smile plasters across her face. This makes Sam turn towards me, his eyes scan me from head to toe hungrily. I chuckle, "Hi guys!" I say in a honeyed tone.

"Took you long enough! You look great!" Helena compliments. I thank her and turn to the two strangers standing next to her. "Oh! Sorry, Blaine meet Jackson, my mate, Jackson meet Blaine. Samantha meet Blaine, Blaine meet my Samantha, my sister." She says quickly.

I smile and shake their hands. Jackson is around the same height as me, he has hazel eyes, and dimples. Samantha resembles Helena, only she has blue eyes. After a few minutes of standing and socializing, Sam pulls me away into a long hallway that I'm not sure what it leads to. The moonlight shines through the large windows and reflects off of the huge mirror hanging on the wall.
