Chapter Thirteen - Let Me Save You
-Blaine-
The dynamic between Jordan and me is weird at the moment. I've spent eighty-five percent off my day by his side and I've slept in his bed three times. Nothing sexual happens, we just sleep. Occasionally, we flirt back and forth but never anything more.
It's kind of nice, I'm getting to know him more. His favorite color is green, hence the plants all over his room. He played the piano and drums when he was younger. He was born on December 15th, and he's vegetarian because he doesn't like the taste of meat.
Oh! And, his full name is Jordan Dominic Westbrook III.
He didn't tell me, I just saw it on one of the files that were on his desk. I've got to admit, it's fun watching him work, he gets so focused and concentrated. He puts a lot of effort into the things he does and that shows he cares about being an Alpha. He even has private meetings with pack members who are having a tough time, whether it be in general or with the recent attack.
I've seen Sam around the house a few times. We don't talk. It makes me sad because he was once the person I always wanted to run to when the day was over but now we treat each other as strangers. He's supposed to be leaving in a few days, according to Jordan.
I have a lot of questions about what will happen when he leaves but I've just kept them to myself. Today Jordan is out for a meeting with another Alpha since Sam is leaving, he needs to replace him as the Beta.
Today is extremely cold and windy, the winter is slowly but surely creeping its way towards us. After breakfast, I decided that I would come to the library and help Charlotte out with rearranging some of the books and adding some to our donation box.
"Oh look! I've read this book five times...I was looking for it..." Charlotte cheers as she runs her hand over the bright cover of the book. "It was probably hiding from you...how do people read books more than twice? Don't you know what happens already?" I ask throwing an old looking book in the cardboard box labeled as, "Donations".
She rolls her eyes, "Yes but sometimes you read a book and miss some stuff. Also, if you love the characters and storyline, it won't hurt to fall back into the bliss of their world." She says dreamy-like. I smile, she's so positive about everything and I envy her.
"Hey, Blaine...can we talk for a moment?" Sam's familiar voice erupts behind me. Instantly I frown, Charlotte gives me a slight smile before picking up the donation box, "I'm gonna put this in the foyer." She says before walking out.
I place the book that I was holding down on one of the shelves and turn to him. He doesn't look great, he looks like he's been crying. My heart tugs at his sadness and all the anger I held towards him fly away only to be replaced by worry.
"Are you okay?" I ask with honest concern. He bites the side of lips and looks away from my eyes, "Uhm, no. Not really..." He mumbles.
"What's the matter?"
"Well, you know how they say when a werewolf finds their mate they're supposed to feel a strong pull towards them? I mean, I do feel a pull but mostly I'm scared." He confesses quietly. I frown and run my hand through my hair to get it out of my face.
"Is it because he's the leader of a rogue pack?" I ask walking over the couch. The first time Sam ever spoke to me, I was sitting on this couch reading Flowers for Algernon. Well, I was trying to read it.
"Yes. He has probably killed a ton of innocent people and I don't know if I'm okay with that." He takes a seat next to me, just like he did that first day.
"Well, he's your mate. When you mark each other, all of that will fly out of the window. He was made just for you and you for him. You might not like his current occupation but what's to say he won't change when you go to him?" I ask with a shrug.
