Chapter Thirty-Nine - Let Me Save You
(*Excuse any errors)

"We have less than thirty minutes left, where's his bow tie?" Charlotte asks as she rummages through the things pilled up on the bed. I look out of the large windows and stare at the water below.
The waves are gently kissing the shoreline as the sun slowly descends to the horizon. The sky is a beautiful mix of orange and pink that makes the clouds look like cotton candy.
"Hey, how are you feeling?" John comes up next to me. I turn to him and give him a smile, "For some reason, I'm expecting to wake up and find out all of this was a dream,"
John chuckles before reaching over and pinching me. I wince and take a step back. "See, not a dream. When all you've known is suffering, it can be hard to believe that nice things can still happen to you. Down there, Jordan is waiting to marry you and that...is not a dream." He says looking deep into my eyes.
"I needed that," I say swallowing the lump in my throat.
These past few months have been anything but mundane. Planning the wedding alongside Chelsea was surprisingly not as nerve-racking as I thought it would be. She did everything and all we had to do was say yes or no.
Working in Westbrook tower also got a bit easier for me. Corporate life is stressful but Jordan and I found ways to reduce some of the stress. We met up for lunch every workday. We saw each other in between meetings and I even got to sit in as he fired one of his executives for stealing. Nate because our permanent waiter for lunch and he's gotten better. He doesn't flirt with me and ignore Jordan.
Hunter and Jessica are adorable together. They go running together and he's slowly been turning her into his "Mountain girl", according to him. Helena and Charlotte have become my best friends and I wouldn't trade our friendship for anything in the world.
Jordan and I visited the burial grounds on the anniversary for Aaron's death, we brought him flowers and Jordan talked to him in private. I also brought flowers for his mom and Daniel. Jordan is more comfortable with going to the burial grounds now which shows that he's accepted their death.
Occasionally, I still have minor seizures. They don't suck as much as they use to and according to my therapist, it means that I'm improving. I don't have nightmares about killing Jordan anymore and I'm happy about that.
Jordan has been sober for eleven months now and I couldn't be prouder. His happiness came back, when he smiles, it's genuine and there isn't darkness in his eyes.
A few months ago, Donovan was sentenced to twenty-five years in prison. Apparently, trying to steal military equipment isn't taken kindly. The container had parts for machines located on a military base in Washington. Donovan found out about the shipment from one of his men and he came after the container to sell it illegally. I used to look up to him, worse decision I could have ever made but without him, I don't think I would be here today. He took me under his wing and made it possible for me to survive in a world where I had no one. I wish him nothing but peace.
"Oh my Goodness! You look so good!" Lara chants as she walks through the door. She's wearing a long light green dress and she has her hair pinned back in a bun. She looks beautiful.
"Thank you, you look beautiful!" I say as she pulls me into a hug. "Ugh, Jordan is one lucky man," She jokes. Everyone laughs as Charlotte finishes up with my bow tie.
"Okay guys, we have to head down now," Charlotte orders. I take one final glance at myself in the mirror and smile. The person staring back at me is not the same one I saw a year ago. I've come a long way, to say the least.
