Finding a Date

Team RWBY and Y/N head down to the combat arena to watch Pyrrha single-handedly beat Team CRDL all on her own.

Y/N: (Pyrrha looks at him & raises her fist) Whoa...

Glynda: And that's the match.

Cardin: Lucky shot. (he collapses)

Glynda: Well done, Miss Nikos. You should have no problem qualifying for the tournament.

Pyrrha: Thank you, Professor.

Glynda: Alright, now I know that's a tough act to follow, but we have time for one more sparring match. (she looks at the other students) Any volunteers? Ms. Belladonna? (Blake quickly shuts her book & looks at Glynda) You've been rather docile for the past few classes. Why don't you—

Mercury: (raises his hand) I'll do it.

Glynda: Mercury, is it? Very well, let's find you an opponent.

Mercury: Actually, I wanna fight... her.

Pyrrha: Me?

Glynda: I'm afraid Miss Nikos has just finished a match. I recommend you choose another partner.

Pyrrha: No it's—

Y/N: (raises hand) I'll go!

Glynda: Very well. Come down and get ready.

Y/N nods and heads down to the arena. Mercury struts onto the arena, visibly sizing up Y/N. But Y/N wasn't afraid since he was really wanting to fight after seeing Pyrrha's match.

Mercury: You're not gonna draw your sword?

Y/N: I don't need it. (sets the sword to the side)

Their match begins when Y/N makes the first move and gets knocked down by Y/N's kick. Recovering quickly, he parries Y/N's punch and counters with his own punch and it hit Y/N on the face and Y/N smiles with excitement.

Ruby: (turns toward Emerald) Hey, your friend is doing pretty good.

Emerald fakes a smile and then rolls her eyes behind Ruby's back. Mercury unleashes a series of powerful strikes. Y/N then counters his kick with his forearm but Y/N notices something about Mercury's leg. Y/N uses a strong force with his leg and kicks Mercury back with such power making him flustered. Y/N charges towards Mercury but he looks at Glynda.

Mercury: I forfeit.

Y/N: (quickly stops in front of him) Why?

Mercury: What's the point? We're obviously leagues apart.

Glynda: In that case... Y/N is the victor of the match.

Mercury looks at Emerald and they both smile but Y/N had a disappointed look on his face since he wanted to really go all out.

Glynda: *bell rings* That is all for today. And remember, the dance is this weekend. But you all have your first mission on Monday. I will not accept excuses.

Y/N and the girls leave the room as they walk out to the entrance of the courtyard. They walk past Sun as she notices Y/N walking by.

Sun: Hey, Y/N! (taps Y/N on the shoulder) You uh, doing okay?

Y/N: Yeah, I'm fine, what's up?

Sun: I-I'm kind of struggling to find a date for the dance.

Y/N: What?

Sun: The dance! This weekend! I don't have a date!

Y/N: Hmm... Are you trying to ask someone?

Sun: Y-Yeah... You see...
