The Unexpected Outcome

Ruby, Blake, Weiss, and Yang go to the Colosseum to go watch Y/N's match. Hoping that he would win.

Port: Now, for the moment you've all been waiting for: The one on one finals!

Yang: You got this, Y/N!

Ruby: You can do it! (Y/N looks & sees the final eight in a singular line waiting to be paired for their matches)

Port: Barty, why don't you explain the rules?

Oobleck: Uhh, it's quite simple Peter. Instead of a bracket system, each round of the finals will be randomly determined immediately before the match takes place.

Port: Much like any good hunt, there will be zero time to prepare.

Oobleck: Ah, yes, yes. Now let's see who our first match will be!

Y/N looks up to the screen to see him fighting against Mercury.

Port (intercom): Y/N L/N and Mercury Blake.

Ruby: Break a leg, Y/N!

Port (intercom): Would all other combatants please leave the stage.

The other students walk off and Y/N faces Mercury. The stage starts to rise with headlights up top to point down to the stage. Unlike other matches, it's just the middle part of the arena they'll fight on. No landscapes or anything else. Just a one on one stage.

Y/N: You better not forfeit this time.

Mercury: Heh, Not a chance.

They both get into their stance and slowly move towards each other.

Port (intercom): Three! Two! One! Fight!

Y/N punches and Mercury kicks, but when they land, both attacks cancel each other out. Y/N jumps over Mercury and tries to punch, but he dodges. Mercury tries to punch and kick Y/N, but he dodges all the attacks. Y/N kicks at the same time Mercury does, but he shoots with his leg sending each other both back. He rushes at him with multiple punches and kicks, but Mercury dodges all of them and he tries to kick Y/N, but he blocks the kick. Y/N counters and kicks him in the face.

Weiss: Don't lose, Y/N!

Mercury then starts to send a barrage of kicks at Y/N, he blocks most of them, but Mercury manages to land a few kicks sending Y/N back. Mercury shoots at Y/N once, but he dodges. Mercury then shoots around him sending white explosions around both of them. Y/N tries to punch him again, but he dodges and kicks Y/N back down to the stage. Then the white explosions send themselves towards Y/N making contact. Mercury gets up and walks away thinking he won.

Y/N: Is that all you got?

Mercury: What?! How?!

Y/N: I won't go down that easily.

Y/N uses 'Flash Step' standing directly in his face as he sends a barrage of punches and kicks at him until Mercury's Aura is completely gone, eliminating him.

Port (intercom): What a way to kick off the finals!

Oobleck (intercom): Y/N L/N, wins!

Ruby: Yeah! You did it, Y/N!

Blake: Way to go, Y/N!

Yang: Good job, Y/N!

Y/N: Better luck next time.

Mercury: There's not going to be a next time fox boy!

Mercury stands back up as Y/N turns around seeing Mercury doing a flying kick towards him as he quickly kicks him in the knee. Making Mercury fall to the ground in pain.
