Sorry (Steve X Male Reader)

Ik this book is in a bit of a limbo situation but I finished season 2 of 'You' yesterday and one scene gave me a lil inspiration to write some sooooo hope you enjoy and as always welcome to the shitshow 😊.

AU where you are a scientist at Stark Industries and Steve's boo.

Tony was having one of his famous parties you have been to plenty of them one of the many privileges of dating Captain America. But tonight you were attending this one alone because Steve was sent on a mission and he told you he would be back today or tomorrow. And tomorrow it will be since he hasn't made an appearance all day. You usually don't drink a lot but tonight you accidentally..... who are you fucking kidding you've been super stressed trying to come up with something good and new for Stark Industries and drunk until it felt like you were floating. And now here you were spitballing ideas and hypotheses to Thor ,who looked genuinely interested, and some random people who were just listening because they knew you were more specifically they knew who you could help them know. Then Tony walked over and abruptly paused once he got a good look at you.

"Ummm you know you're not the super solider in the relationship right" Tony said sarcastically but held concern in his eyes. You turned to look at him slowly.

"Tony I I uhh...... oooooh yea yeah he is resistant to alcohol" you said back the best you could in your drunken state. He walked closer to you.

"You're done for the night alright" Tony said.

"No no Tony I'm good I promise" you said frantically.

"No it's fine matter of fact I bored of this party by now anyway so Thor keep him right here for a second" Tony said and Thor nodded then he walked off. He announced that the party was over and slowly everyone started to clear out. 

"Come on let's get you back to your floor-" Tony started as he walked towards you but you cut him off.

"No no no please please if if you take me there Steve he will know" you said as tears build up in your eyes and they both looked a you with questioning expressions.

"It's painfully disappointing someone that perfect he won't say it but but I know he is I can see it" you said and Tony eyes looked like he was focused on something else as a tear swelled in his eye before he blinked it away and he nodded at you.

"Okay you can stay in my workshop until you're sober" he said.

"Okay" you said as you nodded.

30 minutes later you were hunched over the sink to the connected kitchen throwing up everything.

"sorry Tony I'm so sorry I promise I'll clean this up" you said as you took deep breaths.

"Hey it's okay you need to get it all out of your system anyway" Tony said.

"I'm so-" you stopped talking and starting throwing back up. Then there was a knock of course you didn't hear it but Tony did and he knew that knock authoritative yet calm it was Steve. Tony walked out the kitchen and towards the workshop door and Tony was surprised there Steve ,still in his uniform, stood with worry and concern in his eyes not disappointment like you thought. The second he opened the door Steve walked in.

"Hi" he said quickly as he dropped his shield then followed the sounds of you vomiting.

"What did he drink" Steve asked as they walked towards the kitchen.

"I don't when I came back to him he was already drunk and talking to Thor " Tony said as you groaned.

"I'm sorry I'm really sorry" you said as Steve came behind you and rubbed your back.

"Hey hey it's okay what'd you drink" Steve asked as he continued to rub your back.

"I drunk everyth-" you started but another wave of vomit hit you. Steve turned to look at Tony.

"Could you please make him some coffee no milk or sugar" Steve asked. Tony nodded and immediately started the task. After you stoped throwing up Steve handed you some mouth wash and you rinsed your mouth.

"I'm really sorry" you said and Steve kissed the top of your head.

"Shh shhh it's okay it alright" Steve said softly.

"Here is some coffee and I got you some blankets on the couch" Tony said as he gave you the mug and you slowly nodded.

"We'll stay here for a bit and once you feel better will go back to our floor is that okay" Steve asked you and you nodded leaning on to him suddenly feeling sleepy. Steve cautiously led you to the couch and laid you down. He place the empty mug on the table and tucked you in.

"There you go" Steve said softly with a smile. He softly rubbed your cheek.

"Do you think I'm smart" you asked and for the first time of the night you looked at him and it pained Steve to see the emotions in your eyes the sadness, the regret, the hurt, and the doubt.

"Of course I do you're one of the smartest people I know it where I push you" Steve said.

"Do I have to live in a lab or workshop to be a real scientist" you said then looked around.

"Like where even are we" you asked clearly still inebriated.

"Hey" Steve said in his 'Captain' voice and you immediately looked at him.

"You're with me and that's all that matters" Steve said.

"What's the point even if I make something good now nobodies gonna care about it" you said sadly.

"That's not true whatever you create I can't wait to see it because it gonna come from you" Steve said and you stared into his eyes and saw the truth in that statement and leaned forward into his chest. He wrapped his arms around you and held you. After he felt you breathing slow down he lightly lowered you down and tucked you back in. You unconscious sighed in content as he brushed your cheek with his thumb.

A/n: so yeah that's that lol. I love Forty he is one of my favorite characters from season 2.
