Chapter 35: Sleepover Time!

Marshall's POV

Shouldn't have asked that. I just made everything ten times more awkward. I rubbed the back of my neck and looked back at the prince I've insulted. He was just smiling, like everything's okay.

"Marshall, what was that?!" Fi asked, breaking the silence and awkwardness. "Uh.." I started, pressing my lips together. "It's okay! I get that a lot. Hehe!" Leaf Princess- Prince said assuringly. "Why don't we go talk in my castle? I'm just done watering the flowers!" he said as putting the watering can down. Fionna and I both nodded.

We were in his room. It was filled with plants, all of them 'singing and dancing' and a few birds on the balcony. We followed Leaf Prince (yes!! I got it right this time!) to the balcony, he talked to the birds. All I heard was this:

"Hello! How are you today?"

"That's great. Is he feeling better?"

"Ah, okay. Well, bring this berry to him."

And it went on and on, like a really long conversation that you'd make with someone you haven't seen for ages and try to catch up with them.

"Isn't he cool? He can talk to animals!" Fionna said suddenly. "Uh, yeah. Speaking of him, why do you have so much guy friends?" Fionna giggled, "Jealous, Marshy?" Yes, I am actually.

"What do you expect? Mostly everyone here in Aaa are princes. And I save them a lot from the Ice Queen so we talk and all that stuff when we don't even realize it." I guess that's true.

"I have girls that are my friends too but...I just don't feel like I fit in some times. They talk about stuff I don't really understand so I'd rather go and adventure..." She trailed off. I was ready to apologise for making the conversation deep.

But before I could she looked deep into my eyes as if to say something really honest. "...Which is why I hang out with you, Marshall. Because you understand me." She smiled. I didn't know what to say so I just patted her head and looked down, covering any signs of my face that said, "I'm blushing."

"Sorry for the wait, you two!" Leaf Prince said walking over to us. "Jennifer and her family has been having a rough time because her little brother got sick." I'm sure he meant Jennifer as in the bird he was talking to earlier.

"Soo, what is it that you guys want to talk about?"

"Oh, I see. The Toad Kingdom lost their rulers. Sorry, Fionna but that was a really long time ago. I don't think I even existed or my parents existed back then. So we wouldn't really know..." I sighed. So much for coming here.

"But, I'm sure that one of my people, the elders or their grandkids, who they have passed the story onto, would know." Fionna fist pumped the air. "Whoo!!" She cheered. "It's getting dark though and I'm sure some of them are already sleeping. Why not stay for the night?" "SLEEPOVER TIME!!!!" Fionna shouted. I chuckled.

"Yeah, sleepover time."

Leaf Prince gave us pyjamas to change into for the night, also because Fionna wanted a proper sleepover.

I was ready to sleep and so I dashed for the bed (even though I just float above it). My foot was suddenly taken and was being pulled away from the bed. "Hey!!" I hissed. "You're not sleeping yet. We have to play first!" I smirked, "Play?" She punched me in the face, giggling a little. "Gross, man."

Leaf Prince came in, in his elephant and leaf patterned pyjamas. My pyjamas are parrot-patterned and Fi's has got bunnies on hers. I felt so...child-like.

"Okay, so what do we do now?" I asked. "We can watch a movie, play board games and talk!" Leaf said. "Okay, let's watch a movie! Got any movies?" I asked Leaf. Fionna laughed. "I've only got documentaries about animals..." Seriously?

"W-well, I find them funny! And some of their facts aren't even right."

We watched documentaries about animals all night. They actually were kinda interesting and before I knew it, I was the only one awake. I even had a dream of being a zoo keeper.

But before I went to sleep, I heard my name in the softest voice.

"Marshall..." I heard Fi say in her sleep. It was like a zap, It sent shivers down my body but its effect was suddenly making my face heat up. "Ugh, why do you always do these things?!" I whisper-shouted.

Why..

And then I realised.

Lump, I'm in love with Fionna the human.
