Chapter 41: A Daydream Away

Marshall's POV

We were running out of time and before we knew it, they already started counting down from 3. We had nothing in our brains and minds.

"I guess we have to improvise, Marshall." Fionna said quietly biting her lip, showing her bunny teeth. I nodded and smirked at her. "Hey, cheer up, little bunny. You're partnered up with Marshall Lee, here. C'mon, have you already forgotten about my sick skills?" I teased her and pinched her nose.
Fionna scrunched up her nose and shook her head. "That hurt and no, course not, man." She laughed and playfully punched me. It still hurt a little though. God, this chick's strong.

Caz and Gumball were up first. They argued about the song. Gumball wanted to sing something more classical or opera-like while Caz wanted to sing a 5 Seconds of Summer song. So they ran away into the sunset, yelling at each other. Gumball storming off and Caz following and begging for him to come back.

I heard Fi snort. Was she laughing? I turned to her and yep, she freaking was. That open mouthed, bunny-tooth smile/laugh of hers. It made me unable to talk cause I choked on my vampire saliva. Cut it out, Marshall.
I shook it all off and took deep breaths (wasn't that helpful though). "Let's go, Fi." I said quickly and quietly, took her hand and dragged her along with me as I floated up to the stage.

I cleared my throat in front of the mic. Crap, I was nervous. I'm not usually like this. I started to play random chords that played out pretty good and smooth, which made me figure it out along the way.

I looked at Fionna, who looked at me back with her eyes asking if I knew what I was doing. I gave her my signature smirk saying, hell yeah.

I smiled at the crowd.
And before I knew it, Fionna has already clogged up my brain with her bunny-smiles. I chuckled quietly and began to sing.

"I wish you could see your face right now 'cause you're grinning like a fool. And we're sitting on your kitchen floor on a Tuesday afternoon." I sang as I remembered the days we would be playing Beemo, the thoughts of those days made me smile.

"It doesn't matter when we get back to doing what we do. 'Cause right now would last forever, just as long as I'm with you."

"You're just a daydream away, I wouldn't know what to say if I had you. And I'll keep you a daydream away. Just watch from a safe place so I never have to lose." These words were true, I wouldn't know what to say if I ever did have her.

We sang the last chorus together with a smile. Her, smiling at the crowd. Me, smiling at her. The crowd cheered and Fionna waved at them.

"I like you."
