Chapter Ten

Anneliese and Emma continued to meet and go out with the boys. Both as a group, or just in couples. Emma and Suho had gotten very close to each other and enjoyed spending time together, just like Kai and Anneliese, but something was holding Kai.

But now without them these days because they had to work and the schedule was completely filled, with a rented motorcycle and helmet in their hands, and Anneliese driving because she did not trust Emma, they went to explore and visit the best beaches of Koh Samui. From Chaweng Beach they headed north past Chaoeng Mon Beach, Bophut Village, and Maenam Beach which has crystal clear water. Passing the waterfalls Tan Rua and Hin Lat, which were on the way to visit Maenam Beach.

On Tuesday, they went to visit the south side of the island, which has several attractions and beautiful beaches. They headed to Coral Cove Beach, a small bay that was hidden behind the entrance of a hotel, where they stayed for several hours as it was a beach known to be good for snorkeling.

Leaving the beach, they continued on the main avenue where they eventually found Silver Beach and Lamai Beach. At the end of Lamai Beach, they saw some signs pointing in the direction of Grandfather and Grandmother Rocks. When they got there, they found one phallic rock and another with a hole in the middle. These are the grandmother and grandmother stones that have a mystical story involving Koh Samui, romance and death. It's considered a beautiful place and one of the main tourist attractions on the island, but they had to pay 20 Bath to get access to the staircase leading to the top of the stone, and although the view was beautiful, the girls had already spent the money for that day on food.

Deciding to turn back and seeing that the sun was still high, they continued driving to two famous waterfalls. There they took a walk in the woods, which after a while, Emma sat on the ground protesting that she was tired of walking, took a bath in the waterfall and relaxed a bit as they judged the visitors passing by to go to the Elephant Park to walk on an elephant. They were beautiful animals, but there is a lot of cruelty behind the elephant and other animal tourism industry and the girls were not going to, and did not want to, contribute to it.

On Thursday, they woke up early to visit the great Buddha who is 12 meters tall and part of the Wat Phra Yai Ko Fan temple. The statue was quite talked about and one of the main attractions of the island, and it is easy to understand why. It was a beautiful place and the view was mesmerizing. Since they went in the morning, they ended up attending the ritual offerings and the chants.

They had gone in shorts, which made them panic a bit when they got there and remembered that it was a religious place and had its rules. Men and women couldn't be with their shoulders and knees bare. Lucky for them is that on the right side that led people to the great Buddha there is an araa with scarves and sarongs at their disposal. Not charging for the rent, in the end they only had to turn around and make a small donation to the temple.

It was Saturday. The girls had left in the morning to go to the beach and had not yet returned to the resort. Suho had just finished his shift at the bar and decided to stop by the resort, where he saw Kai with his arms crossed against the wall behind the receptionists who were attending the guests. The bored boy sighed deeply, taking his right hand to his head to divert his hair from his eyes and looked forward, seeing his friend arrive. He pulls himself off the wall and goes around the counter, walking towards Suho. Greeting him.

"If you came to visit your girlfriend, I believe she's out." Kai teases his friend making him roll his eyes. 

"I know and she's not my girlfriend. I came to talk to you." He said revealing what reason had led him to come to the resort.

"Yet. What's up?" 

"It's exactly about that 'yet'. I like her, but she's only here on vacation. I don't know if I give up or risk it." Suho expresses his dilemma as the two walk to the back of the resort to talk someplace quieter. Kai looked at his friend surprised.

"Oh wait, for real? It's not a fling? You actually like her?" Kai tries to confirm what he had heard. Suho nods.

"No, I do like her."

"If you do like her, why don't you tell her?" Kai starts, stopped walking and stared at his friend. "It would be easier if you knew about her feelings for you and then, if two persons want it, I don't see why it wouldn't work out even if she's only here on vacations. There's always a way to make it work." He ends up with a slap on his friend's arm and a smile. Suho sighed deeply.

"I told you before, and you know it. She got out of a relationship a few days ago. There's so much on the table, if she still likes him, or if it's mutual, will it work out when she's gone?" Suho explains what's holding him back and prevents him from talking to Emma about how he feels. Kai giggles.

"I doubt she'd go back to someone who bluntely cheated on her when she's away. I agree that it's all very recent but would she really just accept to go on a date with your for the heck of going? She probably has feelings for you that she hasn't even realized yet and you need to wake them up." Kai does several points that seem to have taken a certain weight and fear from Suho's shoulders.

The two of them kept walking around the resort talking until they decided to go back to the lobby. Kai because he still had to check that everything was going well at the reception and Suho was going home. When they were saying goodbye to each other, the girls showed up laughing and excited. They look at each other one by one and they look forward to seeing the boys with their arms crossed and laughing at them. 

"Now I'm curious about what happened today for you two to be that happy." Kai comments seeing the girls approaching them.

"The day went well, that's all." Emma shrugs. "What are you two doing standing in the middle of the lobby?"

"We were just talking." Suho replies. 

"But glad you're here, wanna do something later?" She asks by elbowing Anneliese who was giggling behind her. Kai smiled and looked at Suho who was surprised and shook his head.

"Yeah, sure. What do you want to do?" 

"Whatever we feel like doing later. I'll meet you at the beach bar at 7." 

Emma responds by taking Anneliese by the wrist and going to thir room. Kai comes out of Suho's back and gets in front of him, laughing. Suho looks at him confused.

"I don't know why you were so afraid, she's totally into you. Get her." Kai says.

"Shut up."
