Chapter Nineteen

And college had begun. Another year. The girls, plus Rhea, attended the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, although they went through different courses and years, the schedules were quite similar. The girls met at a college party through common friends who had switched courses or had known them since high school; Anneliese was in her final year of medicine and  Emma and Rhea were also in the last year of veterinary medicine.

Just starting their first week of school, the girls, plus a group of friends, were already skipping classes to be at college bar to catch up. Skipping class was a never-ending cycle. Emma was sitting on the table with Rhea by her side and Anneliese on the bench under with her legs crossed while she chewed her gum.

Mason was on his way to class with Bethany when he saw Emma sitting at the table talking with Rhea and Brian, while Dylan and Faith were flirting and Anneliese looking at her phone. He left Bethany alone, leaving her confused until she noticed Emma, she rolled her eyes and went to class. The boy approached the group and as soon as Anneliese put her eyes on him she sighed deeply, passing her tongue on her lips and wagging her legs.

"Hey guys." Mason shakes hands with Brian and Dylan and leans against the table where Emma was sitting. He puts his hand behind the girl's back and lands his hand on her waist, pulling her towards him and pressing his lips against hers. Anneliese looks confused at her friend, praying that she hasn't broken up with Suho and accepted the cheater back. 

"What the fuck, Mason? Have you lost your damn mind?!" Emma takes Mason's hand off her waist and jumps to the ground grabbing her backpack. The boys and Faith look confused not understanding what had happened between the couple.

"Are we really going to be like this, Emma?"

"We? There's no, 'we', Mason. Stay the hell away from me." She says with her backpack on her shoulder and passes by Mason ready to leave. Rhea jumps off the table and grabs her things to leave with her friend. Mason grabs Emma's arm, keeping her from leaving.

"Stop being childish! You're not gonna end three years of relationship for something that meant nothing." Mason says in a loud tone, Dylan and Brian get up to hold their friend before he does something stupid when they notice Anneliese. Emma shakes her arm to make Mason let go.

"I already ended it! It's over! Leave me alone!"

Rhea pulls Emma to go to class, Mason just stands there and watches her go. He groans passing his hand in his hair when he feels someone touching his shoulder, he turns around and sees Anneliese. She closes her fist and the last thing they remember is seeing Anneliese's fist against Mason's face. He groans in pain quickly taking his hands to his face, starting to feel the blood flowing.

" What the hell was that for?!" He asks angy. Anneliese shrugs.

"You used to get on my nerves before, you know, when you dated Emma. And I thought you couldn't get any worse. But here you are, proving me wrong." She says by grabbing her handbag that it was on the floor. Dylan, Brian and Faith remain silent. She turns around to Mason again.

"Jesus, this hurts so bad." Mason says in pain. "You are completely crazy. What the hell is wrong with you?" Faith sighs and walks away to go to the bar and asks for some ice.

"You! You are what's wrong!"

"I'm wrong for wanting my girlfriend back?!" He asks by grabbing a napkin that was on the table. He tries to clear the clots that have formed. He sits on the chair with his torso leaning forward. He groans more and more in pain. It was probably broken.

"She doesn't want you back, you cheated on her for the love of god! She's far better without you!" She says as she watches Faith come back with ice in her hand and give it to Mason. He grabs the ice and sticks it up his nose to try and ease the pain and swelling.

"I already said it meant nothing to me! I love her, and I know she loves me too." He replies.

"It meant to her! You broke her freaking heart! Anything she ever felt for you was gone the moment you cheated!" She took a deep breath, every minute she felt more anger towards him. Mason closes his eyes and bites his lip to restrain himself from groaning in pain again.

"I don't have to discuss this with you, Anneliese. It's my relationship and hers." He answers by opening one eye.

"You don't have to discuss with anyone, Mason. It's over. She got better. Deal with it." She shrugs off preparing to turn around and leave for class. Mason frown.

"She got what?"

"None of your business." She replies as she walked away from them.

Anneliese even searched for Rhea and Emma in the halls as she massaged her own hand, which was hurting after the punch she gave Mason, but without success. They had already gone to class. The blonde sighed deeply and began to climb the stairs to her classroom when she felt her mobile phone vibrating in her back pocket. Kai. She thought twice about answering because she had to go to class, but she was so angry that maybe talking to him would help. She sighs deeply and answers the call. She's silent until she hears his voice.

"Hey, I hope I'm not bothering you. I wasn't sure if you'd be busy or not."

"Hey, I was just about to go to class but I changed my mind, so it's okay." Anneliese says leaning against the wall.

"What do you mean? Is everything okay?"

"There's a good chance I broke my colleague's nose, but everything's great." She answers in such a relaxed way that it made it seem like something usual.

"Wait, what? Are you okay? What happened?"

"Mason is what happened." She says. "But I'm fine, my hand hurts a little, but it'll pass." She switches her phone to the opposite hand and looks at her hand a little red.

"Sounds bad. Don't get hurt, I don't want to see any bruise in you when I arrive in Denmark." He says with a worried tone.

"I'll try, Mason's really pulling my nerv– Wait, are you really coming?!" She pulls herself off the wall with a smile on her face.

"Of course I am. I told you I would."
