Chapter Eighteen
Girlfriend
I saw how uncomfortable he was, but he just smiled and nodded to everyone who was asking him for a picture.
Nakalapit lang siya after thirty minutes of taking pictures with his fans, he looked exhausted when he approached me. "I'm sorry... that's why I didn't want to go out here, too many people are asking for a picture."
I smiled. "They're your fans."
"Gabbien just convinced me to go out here, bilang thanks na rin for those who watched our game," he said.
I nodded. "Let's eat?"
"By the way, congrats nga pala. Ang galing mo kanina!" I told him. "Isang game pa, right? Tapos finals na?"
He nodded. "Yeah. Hope we'll win."
"Kaya niyo 'yan! Basta teamwork lang ang kailangan, and also iyong defense niyo mas patatagin niyo and sana less turnovers—"
I was cut off by his chuckle. "You sound like Coach."
Kapag need ni Coach Lim ng assistant, tell him I'm here," I kidded.
Natawa nanaman siya. "Will keep that in mind."
"Asia..."
"Hmm?" I asked, still not looking at him.
"Thank you..."
This time, I looked at him. His eyes remained on the road. "Thank you? For what?" I curiously asked.
"For everything," he answered.
"Don't thank me... I'm doing these things because I want to and I'm enjoying it, and if there's someone who would be thanking somebody, that would be me... thank you, Duane... for being the best friend ever."

I was about to tap my keycard when I stopped. It was already eight in the evening... I just shrugged it off. Baka hindi pa siya nakaka-uwi ng condo.
The whole night, that thought bothered me that there's something wrong with him kaya naman lumabas ako at nakita kong nandoon pa rin ang lunchbox... ano ang mayroon?
