There were lots of whispers. Voices speaking rapidly and all at once. It was quite annoying to say the least. Opening my eyes slowly, I looked around. I didn't really recognize anyone besides Dr. Cullen, and even that was a brief memory.
A tiny girl with big smile hopped up from her chair in excitement. "She's awake!"
"Alice, rein it in a little, she just woke up," a stunning boy from beside her said quietly. I think I remember seeing him. "Oh hush Jasper. This is so exciting."
Looking around the room I noticed Paul had left. Sam must have taken him away after I screamed at him. Jared, however, remained sitting in an uncomfortable position and seemed to be snoring away.
"What happened?" I whispered out. The memories were fuzzy, mainly just me yelling at Paul to leave and a pair of golden eyes staring at me intently.
"I had to sedate you. Right now you are just being monitored to make sure your body doesn't try to reject the blood we had to replace." Dr. Cullen responded.
My eyes shifted back to the tall boy with blonde hair who was standing in the corner. His stance was almost cat like, as if he could pounce at any moment. But instead he just seemed to push himself into the corner more and looked ready to run out the door.
"Who are you people?"
The tiny one responded fast. "I'm Alice and that's Jasper. We're Dr. Cullen's adopted children. You will be attending school with us." It was weird. Their eye color was all the same for the most part; Jasper's seemed to be swarming with black and it caused me to blink multiple times to try to see clearly.
"That's nice and all, but why are you in my room?" I asked Alice. I didn't mean it in a defensive or rude way, which I guess she understood because she just sat on the corner of my hospital bed and giggled slightly, "We're gonna be friends, silly."
Alright this is getting freaky, I thought to myself.
"Alice, stop. You're making her nervous," Jasper said from the corner. He began moving closer to the bed only to be stopped by a growl. "Watch yourself mutt," he sneered in response.
This made me glance back and forth many times from Jared, who was now wide awake, to Jasper who stood by my bed.
"Jared, why are you still here?" I asked. Jeez, I'm asking so many questions.
"Pfft. Well if you must know, I am here looking out for my dear friend who apparently has some issues going on. Moral support as some may call it," he said in a proud way. I only giggled in response at his goofiness. For someone I didn't know very well, he sure did a good job at making me laugh. A lot like how Paul does. Paul.
"Pau-"
"Will be fine. I mean, he is a little butthurt but seeing what he clearly put you through he kinda deserves it." Jared responded. I didn't bother responding, just looked down. I could still feel the strong gaze of the other boy at my face. It tempted me to look up at him again but I quickly decided against it.
"No one deserves to see what he did," I said quietly.
"You can be discharged in an hour or two, but maybe we should talk privately before you go," Dr. Cullen said.
"Thanks Dr. Cullen, but I'm fine. I just want to leave already if that's okay." I said quietly.
"Of course, and you can call me Carlisle. There's still a meeting scheduled for a week from today."
Finally looking up I saw Jasper once again. I felt a feeling I couldn't really describe and it made me want to move closer. I was comfortable and yearned to reach out and touch him. His skin looked like porcelain and his eyes held so much depth.
I wasn't sure what to do about the feeling so I just looked away once more and nodded at Carlisle, wanting to leave as soon as possible.
