"Oh my god I'm gonna lose it. I literally can't, I mean I can, I definitely will, but I can't with the emotions. I'm gonna explode." I was hyperventilating as Alice and Rose tried desperately to fan me with magazines.
"Caylee you need to snap out of it because you are getting married in less than 30 minutes and I will NOT have you mess up my masterpiece." Alice's voice was scarier than my nerves.
"Mind if I try?" Bella spoke up from the other side of the room where she had been dressing Nessie. Reluctantly they all left the room. "Hey, it's gonna be okay. I totally get how you're feeling. My memories are still a little blurry but I remember how I felt on my wedding day." She carefully fixed a piece of my hair.
"I don't know why I'm so nervous. I know how much we love each other."
Bella looked down at me. "It's not really about knowing if you love each other that's causing it. It's more so you're so excited that your body is going into some kind of shock or something," she laughed. "It will be fine, I promise. Now get out there and go marry yourself a cowboy."
I met Paul at the bottom of the stares. He was standing there fidgeting, messing up the flower pinned to his tux and his hands were shaking. Looking up, his eyes went wide. "You look beautiful. My best friend, all grown up."
"Oh hush you baby. It's just a shame Gran isn't here to see you blubbering for her."
He looked at me carefully, knowing that within the joke was still pain. Pain from missing her and my parents, them not getting to be there for my special day. "Hey, I'm sure they're watching you wherever they are. And I can guarantee they're proud of you." I hugged my best friend tight, thanking him in a whisper. "Alright alright, get off. I gotta bride to walk down the aisle."
And he was right. Paul held out my bouquet, then extended his arm for me to hold. Walking out the doors with him was nerve wracking, but as soon as my feet touched the green and flowery pasture I felt the calm sweep over me, and the turning the corner I saw him. My perfect mate.
Jasper stood in his tux at the end of the aisle, eyes boring into mine and a handsome smile. Whether it was unintentional or not I could feel the warmth and love spreading out of him, trailing all the way over to me to fill me like a hot drink in the freezing winter. Making it to him, Paul handed me off before returning to his seat at the front, a proud smile adorning his face.
Carlisle officiated us and we read our vows aloud to each other, never once did our gaze part from the others. And finally, the finishing kiss, where Jasper of course dramatically dipped me. Cheers screaming from around us as our family gave us their congrats.
At the toast it was much like Bella's, where everyone gave their own goofy speech, Jasper going last.
"I couldn't have asked for a more perfect day. Today will always be the day that I officially made my declare to cherish and love my beautiful wife forever. For a long time I feared that I would never meet someone who could make me feel more of myself and less of others. Someone who could love me unconditionally despite all my inner battles and past mistakes. Someone who wouldn't judge, but would be understanding. And I can honestly say that I have met my match. In such little time, I have had the pleasure of falling to my knees in front of the wonderful woman I can now call my wife. Caylee, you have been an extraordinary gift in my life. You have helped me grow in ways I didn't know were imaginable, stood with me through hard times, and gave me a strength I didn't realize I had. It is rare that we find our perfect match, someone we can be ourselves with completely, in every way. I'm privileged to say that I have found my forever, and for that I am so grateful. After all, forever is a long time, it can get quite lonely."
With a lift of his glass in my direction, and a bright smile that reached all the way to his eyes, I melted under his gaze. So incredibly in love with the man before me.
In the years that followed that celebration we discovered more about ourselves and our love only grew stronger. I did indeed have a gift, carried on from my human life. I found out the hard way when we stopped somewhere before our honeymoon and a cashier accidentally touched me. Instead of only seeing her death I saw everything, from her birth up until her final breath. Emphasis on the death part though. But with Jasper by my side it didn't matter, we gave each other strength, held each other up, and above all, loved endlessly.
Jasper and I were sitting on the balcony once again, on our anniversary, this time gazing up at the stars as soft music played in the background. I was tracing my fingers over the crescent scars that covered his bare chest, and his fingers ran gently across the skin of my hip absentmindedly. No longer looking at the stars, his other hand brushed hair away from face, and his soft lips trailed kisses up my neck and to my lips.
I pulled back to look into his eyes, deep golden that I had such a passion for.
"I love you."
Jasper stared back, his signature smirk on his face.
"And I love you darlin'."
